Yes it's true: I am Cristoph Daum's mistress. All joking aside, I am absolutely shocked. Did anyone see this coming? Current Head Coach Walter "Schoko" Schachtner had the team playing great - why make a coaching change? I think Daum's hiring means nothing but trouble for the "Violetten". The guy is a media whore, he has no emotional attachment to this club or to Austrian football. Terrible move IMO for the chemistry of a team that's been playing like clockwork. On the other hand, I think this is good for me as a Rapid fan. I think you'll eventually see turmoil over at Austria. I have to admit, though, Daum is an extremely entertaining character, and the Austrian league is probably richer for his presence.
Oh geez, I can't believe I missed the news! I've been an Austria Wien fan since childhood, but now I've got to seriously reconsider. How could they ditch died-in-the-wool Austrianer Schoko Schachner for the German coke head--especially when Schachner had them leading the league?! Can't believe it... Well, the club is claiming it's trying to reach the next level in Europe and get a seat at the Champions League table. The team won its first game under Daum 4-0 against GAK. Still, I can't help but believe this is a poor move.
