Daryl Dike 2021 Season Highlights | Barnsley - YouTube

Depends on what you define 'on the ball'

    - is he the quickest? Heavens so
    - does he have the sharpest on the ball skills? No way

But for a big man, he's competitive. Remember, a big man turns into
space and can use his strength to get by guys. Dike doesn't do
anything fancy in open space, but he also doesn't lose the ball.

It's great to have lots of tricks in your bag, but if you can accomplish
the same goals with simpler means...than all the better.

And to be fair- look how many times they just hack him down.
So we kindof don't know everything he is capable of, since
so often when he beats a guy, then they body block him over and over.

To the eye, he's like a slightly lesser skilled Lukaku to me.

Dike best be looking over his shoulder.... :)

Axel Kei scores a hat trick for RSL Academy | MLS NEXT Cup 2021 | MLSSoccer.com

Alternatively, why don't we strategically target building the world's most physical (& skillful!) National Team by 2026:

(Starting lineup- WORLD CUP FINAL 2026)

    Dike- Kei- Pepe
    Otasowie-McKennie- A Richardson-Tessman
    Brooks- Reynolds-M. Robinson
    Steffan

Against a Pep G. coached Spain team in the World Cup final (ranked #1 in the world), we will conquer the Spanish runts with our 'go big or go home' lineup which will feature a 'total head pong' strategy down the field........we will totally neutralize there 'shrimpy' Gavi-led midfield, and be up 3-0 at halftime.

Ball will never touch the ground and shrimpy Gavi will be exhausted by halftime trying to outjump the 'monsters' all half.

Start of 2nd half, we will bunker with the back 7, and add the fresh legs of Pulisic, Aaronson and one more speedster (Weah?) to play counter and annilate and demoralize their midfield + backline once again.

I see it so clearly! :) BTW- I got first dibs on calling him 'Cobra' Kei.....
hopefully he can be eligible by then?

Seriously, super good luck wishes for DD on this Saturday!!!

I saw Otasowie and I stopped reading there. Dude, stop smoking astroturf: the plastics-based carcinogens really damage your lungs and the highs are way weirder than LSD. Stick to filter-tip marijuana.

Seriously though, completely concur with wishing Daryl a successful debut. I don't expect too much today- maybe only 20' off the bench - but he'll start scoring after 2-3 games

Double O was the one gave it to me!

I will mark your post about OO, and conveniently pull it out when he is proving the doubters wrong in a couple years. I believe in his talent and he'll get his head on straight soon.

Great day of footie ahead- enjoy!

Conversely, if OO isn’t a star in a couple of years, will you pull the post up and admit how clueless you were, and how over the top annoying you were?

If there is an answer we know the 100% truth about it is that one. Guaranteed.;)

Dike subbed in for the last half hour with the game still scoreless.

He's looked pretty sharp. He just destroyed a guy on a 50/50 into the advertising boards.

1:0 QPR as Austin scored on a header. 4 minutes to go out of 7 injury time

dike really needs to improve his holdup play and he is going to have ample opportunities to do just that in the championship

Game over 1:0 QPR. Dike looked pretty good. He won a couple of headers but lost more than he won. He had a nice turn in midfield to spring a counter. He played about 30 minutes and his fitness looked great in that timeframe.

I watched a feed with QPR commentators, and the play-by-play guy was irate that this wasn't a red. He spent the rest of the game loudly cheering every time Dike lost a header or didn't connect with a teammate on a flick on, etc.

It wasn't even a foul, lol. Ref just said it was a throw in. Dike put his shoulder into him but it was just a bad spot to get knocked into.

I forgot how annoying those two were when Barnsley played QPR last winter... Dike looked lively though and created most of the chances Albion had in the second half.

They were missing a couple key players to red cards and still have a few important players injured so I'll reserve judgement until we see them at full strength.

Since he was born in Edmond, Oklahoma he's a U.S. citizen by birth. Otherwise, per FIFA regs, he couldn't have been called up for the MNT back un 2020.

This was in reference to Akel Kei, not Dike.
