Darwin Nunez remains committed to the prospect of joining Liverpool this summer and is uninterested in hearing about any other offers.

This update comes courtesy of Portuguese outlet Record, with the Red Devils said to remain keen on the Uruguayan despite their league rivals appearing to be ahead in the race for the player’s signature.

Tons of smoke on Nunez on social media and from ITKers... people seem to think it's a fait accompli.
    Waiting on the official reveal.

Carvalho, the backup RB, Nunez, and perhaps a CM/DM feels like a stellar incoming window, as far as I'm concerned. Then spend the rest of the summer maximizing the dollars on those who are outgoing.

ITK = "in the know", as I use it. Refers to a sort of subsection of modern/internet media.

no not really - first - that’s euros. So it’s 68m + 17m - maybe reaching 85m pounds total in fees. And we get to pay that in installments. (one payment required for the base fee)

And we will be recouping almost the entire amount from sales of Mane, Ox, Minamino, Phillips, Williams.

City on the other hand don’t have to sell anyone and can pay 3x for Haaland in terms of outlay (51m fee, 20m to his dad, 40 m to agent, etc) and “350k p/w” in salary (not including special Abu Dhabi trickery).

EDIT - we are supposedly paying the 68M upfront (but that doesn't really change much as the outlay is still half of haaland more or less) and the p/w will ne dwarfed. And then player sales.

Massive massive signing...I'm done with wing forwards, inverted wingers, false '9's etc etc...Its high time we got a proper CF who can stick the ball in the net.

Bobby can just play off him in a ultra attacking 4 4 2 too!!!!..This signing going to be immense.

If’n we trigger those add ons, I’d be plumb satisfied. Remember the clauses that made us pay the full fee for Becker— winning the title, and the Champions League? I’ll take another of those.

Liverpool are now closing on Darwin Núñez deal, here we go! Meeting in the morning with verbal agreement in place between Liverpool & Benfica, just waiting to sign. €80m plus €20m add ons fee. #LFC Liverpool are preparing paperworks. Five year contract, already agreed.

Now reports claim Darwin Nunez is on route to Europe to complete his medical and sign paperwork with his new club

Update: Darwin Nunez has not participated in the Panama friendly as they do not want to risk an injury and his move from Benfica to Liverpool falls through.

It's done! Confirmation Liverpool have sealed the deal for Darwin Nunez (thetopflight.com)

Paul Joyce writes that the two sides are still a little bit apart on a fee, including what the add-ons are based on (accomplishments vs. appearances). Ward and his counterparts from Benfica are meeting face to face and supposedly personal terms are already agreed so, it hopefully happens in the next couple of days.

No not apart on the fee.

Apart on how much paid upfront.

We want 60, they want 68.

The deal is more or less agreed in terms of the overall package.

    From the Joyce article:

Benfica are seeking £68 million plus add-ons, which would take the total valuation of Núñez up to £85 million (about €100 million).

Liverpool will not meet that £68 million figure and negotiations are centred on persuading the Portuguese club to lower their valuation of the 22-year-old.

The Anfield club also want to ensure bonuses for Benfica are linked to future player and team achievements. As it stands, Benfica are seeking add-ons which are dependent on appearances.

Benfica want £68 million up front for the striker

    Paul Joyce
Saturday June 11 2022, 4.00pm BST, The Sunday Times

Liverpool are trying to persuade Benfica to accept an up-front fee for Darwin Núñez of closer to £60 million as negotiations continue over a deal for the striker.

Discussions between Liverpool’s sporting director Julian Ward and his Benfica counterpart Pedro Marques are in progress over the structure of the transfer fee for the Uruguay international.

Benfica are seeking £68 million up front, plus add-ons that would take the eventual valuation of Núñez up to £85 million which equates to €100 million.

Liverpool are reluctant to meet that £68 million figure as it stands and negotiations are centred on persuading the Portuguese club to lower their valuation for the 22-year-old to nearer £60 million.

As it stands, Benfica need to bend on their demands. Liverpool know the player wants to move to Anfield and join Jürgen Klopp’s side having impressed against them when scoring home and away in the quarter-final of the Champions League last season.

Manchester United have shown interest in Núñez, but they cannot offer him Champions League football next season, while the allure of playing for Liverpool is far greater than the attraction of joining a United team who are embarking on yet another new era, this time under Erik ten Hag.

    - I think the article says we want to pay 60 now. They want 68. No fight on the totals reaching 85m.

right we want to pay 60m. I don’t think we are fighting the overall fee of 85m.

Darwin Núñez will fly to Spain in the coming hours, then Uruguayan striker will be ready to fly to England in order to complete move to Liverpool once contracts are signed with Benfica. [IMG][IMG] #LFC Final detail discussed: five or six year deal. Contract could be valid until 2028.

(hmm - possibly now a 6 year deal)

Benfica owes this previous club a percentage of the fee, doesn’t it?
