    Russian season starts soon, thankfully.

Danny will step it up a notch, if hes anywhere near as good as he was before his injury where Chelsea were pursueing him.....

He's had all the time and then some to heal, let's hope the form is still there. Deco usually steps up for big Tourney's but he is on his way out either way, so Danny and Micael need to step up because the other alternative who has had chance after chance seems to get worse and worse.

Yes, Moutinho was quite horrid today.

I think with the emergence of Micael and Varela, has hurt Danny chances a bit for being on the team. But I still think he should be ahead of Moutinho, without question, and most definitely Quaresma.

I will be pulling for him.

I couple of years back, I couldn't think of anyone who could legitimately replace Deco. Maybe Carlos Martins, but God knows he's inconsistent. But now we have Ruben Micael and Danny who have stepped up. Now if only some left backs could come out of the woodwork.

I know it was a position that worried me as well I must admit. Then Danny exploaded on the scene and Miceal gradually worked his way up the pecking order. And I am really becoming a fan of Micael, he has that flair in his game.

Danny is the perfect fit, superb player....not suprised Chelsea was chasing him.

Ruben will continue to develop, and be a part of the 2012 squad.

Sergio Oliveria is the CM that looks exciting....the best prospect ive seen out of portugal in quite some time...

Mainstay in the CM for years to come imho.

Overall he played pretty good. First half was pretty weak but second he exploded more. Gave a few good crosses which could have resulted in goals. Was a pretty tough game for him to do a lot though kryla just parked the bus for the whole game i dont think they even had a shot lol

Fernando Meira didnt play, russian fans in justintv stream said he was still injured.

    Zenit 1-1 Spartak

He played very good today. Could have had about 3 assists if it wasnt for his teamates being so shit. He needs to get out of this team.

Excellent through balls from Danny. Hopefully he gets sold to Benfica:D Chelsea are after him if he does go there at least I can watch him play more often. He is worth at least 30 million.

Goal.com gave Danny an 8 out of 10...saying he was Man of the Match again...
Here's what the wrote about his performance:

Danny 8 - The engine of Zenit's attacking play. His ball distribution was excellent and rallied the team after going behind. The stand out player on the pitch.

Considering the injury to Varela, and if Danny is able to keep this form for the next, even just a month I would say, its pretty safe to assume he is going to be in South Africa this summer.

He's a lock, regardless of form.

Question: what position is he playing at Zenit? I would love to hear he's excelling at CAM but I suspect he's more likely playing Wing or Support Strike. We really need somebody pulling the strings up there in the CAM spot.

    2-0 zenit

Lazarov all alone in the box passes to danny who hits the post and bystrov buries the rebound.
