Danny Rogers has been loaned to St. Mirren who won promotion to the Scottish Premiership last season.

He made his competitive debut for them today in a home League Cup game against Spartans.

The game ended 2-2 and St. Mirren won 5-3 on penalties.

Rogers was on the bench as St. Mirren opened their Scottish Premiership campaign yesterday with a 2-1 home win against Dundee.

I'm one of maybe 7 people in the world who sees Greenock Morton and immediately thinks of Dominic Cervi.

This forum has clearly rotted my brain. :p

With the SPFL clubs voting to cancel the remainder of the 2019/20 Scottish Championship season, Rogers's final stat line will be 20 starts in goal and 4 clean sheets in the league, 3 starts in the Scottish FA Cup, and 1 start in the Scottish League Cup. Greenock Morton finished 7th in the league.

Kilmarnock finished 8th in the Scottish Prem in this Covid-shortened season.

Their top three (!) goalkeepers from this season have left the club.

The #1, Laurentiu Branescu, was on loan from Juve and is now a free agent.

The #2, Jan Koprivec, was signed last summer on a free transfer from Pafos (Danny Williams's former club in Cyprus) and let go at the end of the season.

The #3, Jamie MacDonald, signed with Raith Rovers in the Scottish second tier a couple of weeks ago.

So right now, Kilmarnock has two goalkeepers - Rogers and Curtis Lyle, a 20-year-old academy product with 0 first-team appearances to his name.

They'll definitely add another goalkeeper at some point this summer, but right now, Rogers seems like the clear #1.

Well, about that "clear #1"... he's on the bench:

They acquired Jake Eastwood on loan from Sheffield United.

Gave up 2 fewer goals than his GK competition, but Killie still lost 2-1.

To my surprise, this was a league match, not a friendly, making this Rogers's first SPL appearance since December 2018.

Eastwood must have gotten hurt in the first half, right?

Didn't see anything about an injury, but this is online:

Eastwood, who only arrived on loan from Sheffield United on Thursday, was then withdrawn at the break and replaced by fellow recent arrival Danny Rogers.

The 5 sub rule made the change easier, but it doesn't sound like he covered himself in glory. At least Rogers had the advantage of being at the club more than a couple of days.

Alex Dyer is Kilmarnock's manager, so we'll call that a Tier 1 source. :p

    Highlights below.

Rogers comes out for a through ball deep into the box at 3:56. He doesn't get there but cuts the angle down a bit. The attacker's attempted chip is well off frame.

Rogers is the #1 for now, but not for long:

    "KILLIE EYE NEW KEEPER

Kilmarnock boss Alex Dyer admits he has had to relaunch his search for a goalkeeper after seeing Jake Eastwood ruled out for up to three months.

The Sheffield United 'keeper only completed his six-month loan switch to Rugby Park last week.

He went straight into Dyer’s lineup for the opening game of the season against Hibernian at Easter Road.

It proved to be a debut to forget, with the 23-year-old at fault for Martin Boyle’s opener before being replaced at half-time after suffering a thigh injury.

Dyer has since been given the news that Eastwood now faces 10 to 12 weeks out of action."
