I think its the right move,,,, he did well for us gave everything he could . Thank you Schweinie. You were a great example of what German football is supposed to be, a fighter, a leader !
His Bruce Willis impersonation in the 14 WC final will live forever
Danke Basti! I will always remember your performance in the World Cup Final!
Die Hard or Stirb langsam
It's unbelievable how time flies! We've seen Bastian grow from the kid with crazy hair and an attitude to a true leader, a veteran - and an absolute legend. This guy always gave everything for the NT and I think retiring now is the right decision for him, as well as the team.
Thanks for all the memories, Fußballgott!
Man I feel old now
This. I grew up along with this guy - watching him evolve as a player.
I'm surprised that no one is saying, "now we wait for Podolski."
If only he'd have done this two years ago, we could have another trophy.
When Lahm retired I was surprised as I knew he could still offer a lot...however I never felt sad for his decision
Today when Basti retired I know he has nothing more to offer to the NT...however I am extremely sad
that's Bastian Schweinsteiger our emotional leader a fighter..
Thank you for everything Basti....
Very happy he was able to captain our team, even if it was short
Who's taking over the armband?
Apparently Boa or Neuer.
Both are the best choices. I'd lean towards Boateng.
2003 - those were the days my friend
Looks like they're giving him the Finland game as his farewell game. Poldi is unfortunately injured
On a scale of 1 to Bastian Schweinsteiger, how much would you give for your country?
********ing love that guy
Thank you Basti!!! You have been my favorite player growing up.
I wasn't the most popular kid growing up in grade school, but being able to rush home (or skip school) to catch your matches gave me something to look forward to outside of all that. Your hairstyles changed me and brought out the true me. Your moments have brought me joy. When it looked like we were going to not win any silverware after EM 2012, you didn't give up and lead us to glory in 2014 through hell and high waters. Thank you for all you have done and for all the positive changes you brought about in my life.
