With their 3-1 win vs Randers FC today, Brøndby move into 1st place in the Danish Superliga after 14 match days.

Brøndby have won 5 straight, and are now undefeated in the last 8 matches.

Brøndby have won 1-0 playing away in the derby against FC København today, thanks to a goal by Christian Nørgaard.

The win maintains Brøndby's 1-point lead over FC Midtjylland for current first place in the league. This result also means that FCK are now 11-points behind first place after 15 match days.

AGF unfortunately is it's usual self ... it's the management and not the coach who is the problem....

Seems AGF is always in danger of relegation. I hope the management problem isn't serious (somehow got reminded of the word "Galehuset"), and that the club at least has no financial worries.

You guys should be faring better against Silkeborg today...

AGF has the 4th largest wage/transfer budget in the league, so the managemet has been doing terrible the past many years ... axing the coach will do nothing to change this ...

Brøndby won 4-2 vs FC Nordsjaelland today to maintain first place in the table. Teemu Pukki scored a hat-trick, while Hany Mukhtar added the other goal and also had 2 assists.

FC København lost 0-3 to SønderjyskE yesterday, and now sit 14 points behind first place after 16 match days.

Current second place club Midtjylland play against Aalborg tomorrow.

Excellent entertaining game between Brøndby and FCN where Brøndby were highly efficient (4 goals in 5 attempts on target), the problem for FCN in the fight for the championship is that they are going to lose Emiliano Marcondes (12 goals and 6 assists) in the winter break...

FCK on the other hand could even end up in the relegation play-off's .. they are just hanging on to the 6th place, but should they slip, they can praise themselves lucky that they still have a chance of playing Europa League, if they finish as the best team in the relegation battle.

Any news on who FCN are looking at to sign as a replacement for Marcondes? Considering how they sold Ingvartsen and Lobotka during the summer, they've done reasonably well so far this season. But losing Marcondes part way through this campaign is going to hurt more. Godsway Donyoh also only returns in February.

I must say Midtjylland look pretty strong, with Sörloth and Onuachu forming a pretty formidable attack. But Brøndby have good balance in production between Pukki, Kliment, Mukhtar, Halimi, and Christensen.

FCN never spend much if any money on buying players and even when they do, we are almost always talking about U19 or U21 NT players, so they are not going to spend millions on a replacement for Marcondes ...

I think FC Midtjylland on the other hand are going to try to reinforce their team in the winter break, now they have a good chance of winning the championship ... and obviously they got a rich owner who is ready to spend, if there is a good reason for it.

A general question... besides FCK and Brøndby, is there any Superliga club which is considered to be from Copenhagen? Perhaps Lyngby?

Lyngby is in the northern outskirts of København, while Brøndby is in the western outskirts, so yes ...

This must be the DR elite girls choir :D which I recognize from the non-football thread. The first time I watched this, I nearly had goosebumps... simply beautiful and somewhat moving.

Thanks Ceres. What about FCN, or even Helsingør (which I reckon is closer to Sweden but still within Copenhagen metro area)?

Eh, you could make a reasonable (... well, not stupidly inane) argument that Malmö is slowly turning into a Copenhagen suburb, and Helsingør / Helsingborg is largely built around the the defensive fortifications guarding the narrowest part of Øresund. ... for the purposes of your question it would probably be more correct to state that most of southern sweden (Skåne in particular) is orienting themselves more towards Copenhagen than any part of Denmark (except maybe Bornholm) orienting towards Sweden

But still ... Helsingør (and Roskilde, and arguably Køge, although that 'suffers' from that the coastline all the way down there is fairly consistently urbanized) is barely just far enough away that most people would be forced to take a think about the quesiton ... they're certainly within Copenhagen's 'Sphere', but is also (just so) far enough away, that they have it's own 'sphere' of towns that orient towards it.

Still @Ceres would you agree with the observation that the majority of FCK's issues stems from that most (if not all) of the players that pre-season would have been considered key players, have been long-term injured?

No, not really ...FCK usually sign replacements at least ½ a year before they plan to sell a player, so they do not lack players or depth... the difference is that coach Solbakken now not only is the coach but also the director of sport in charge of all the signings, which is not how it used to be ... he even fired his closest assistant earlier this year, due to disagreements, so that he is now 100% in charge of everything that has to do with the team ... and this I believe is the main problem ... because one person can not be in charge of all that has to do with training, the team, while also keeping an eye on the youth department and signing players and building a team in a big club like FCK..

But I agree that part of the problem has been long-term injuries, but it has mainly to do with questionable signings who simply are not quite as good as expected... Some experts also believe it has to do with FCK losing it's Scandinavian "DNA" by signing too many players from the Eastern parts Europe, where they have not been good enough at scouting and finding the right players.

@Ceres Hard luck! It looks like the ref might have cost you guys 3 points yesterday. As for Helsingør, even though they are bottom of the league as expected, it seems they are holding up pretty well for a semi-pro team in their debut Superliga season. Methinks they have done their Shakespearean heritage no harm at all:D
