Italian media speculate on a potential return of Daniele De Rossi https://t.co/LeqWj3HYwB— RomaPress (@ASRomaPress) October 5, 2024 Lol
I know the term “clown show” gets thrown around a lot. But it’s completely appropriate here if Juric gets sacked
I'd love for De Rossi to be back or better yet, to have never been sacked, but showing this Milan level of deranged behavior and changing our tune day in and day out is probably the worst thing we could've done. They've hired the self-important Greek thot, they've let her loose and now they want to right a wrong by doing another wrong. Nah. Let's just have the empty season and hope against hope the next one will be better, which most likely it won't be.
I hope it happens just to keep the clown show going. Roma are so much entertaining off the field than on.
Whats your cousins saying this time? Its easy to make up a rumour like this given the circumstances surrounding it. If theres seriousness to this maybe they see it as the only way to try and win back the fans and throw her totally under the bus. She is a convenient scapegoat since she has no voice now but this ultimately will always be all on Dan for letting it get to this. 3 years of great rapport built up ruined in a week of madness. De Rossi is no mug either and I could see him laughing at their offer. He did say this time I wont be back when leaving didnt he? I would like it to happen but Juric doesnt deserve it. I just cant really get behind this team right now.
Juric isn't a caretaker, he can get them playing good football I hope. But hard to see DDR really returning after that ridiculousness. I think he respects himself. But ya never know...
I never made anything up… I actually heard from two of them this morning and they are both saying pretty much the same thing… Potrebbe essere una ipotesi, ma non so se Daniele De Rossi accetterà se lo richiamano. Comunque se ne parla spesso di questa ipotesi. In casa AS Roma c’è troppo caos in questo momento.. Qualche vittoria farebbe cambiare l’umore a tutti.. & Ciao cugino, purtroppo non credo ci sia questa possibilità. Oggi alla Roma regna la disorganizzazione e nessuno si sta occupando di gestire al meglio la società! The bottom line is the club is currently in total chaos and story may change tomorrow or even next week but right now anyway, this is what everyone from pundits to fans are saying..,
I didnt say you made up any rumour. I was referencing the link sal posted regard Italian media speculating. Thats an easy rumour to make up given the circumstances.
Well sure but the media knows quite a lot. They predicted and reported DDR would be gone initially and he was so they were spot on. As I recall, many times, they usually know a coach would be fired before he does and it actually happens.
If he was going to return it needed to happen right after Souvlaki was jettisoned. Now it's ridiculous.
Dan Friedkin also faces the reality of having to pay both DDR and Juric. If DeRossi refuses to return, he loses out on a guaranteed, 3-year contract and if they hire somone else, then they have to pay three coaches. I don't think he wants to do that.
I'm not sure that De Rossi loses on anything if he refuses to return, he got sacked, it's not as if they've sent him on unpaid leave to relax on a beach. Roma breached the contract, they're paying penalty/severance payments to De Rossi now, if Daniele wants to fly to the moon and not return a single call, it's his right. I think for Daniele it might be worse for him if he returns, I'm not sure if this has happened recently in football where the coach goes back to his previous team while still under his old contract's severance payments. Usually those only get nullified if the coach goes to work for another club during the meantime, but not sure what happens if he comes back to the same team. Probably a completely new contract, more expensive, to incentivize the coach to swallow his pride and come back.
Happened all the time at Italian mid/low table clubs. Zamparini and Preziosi were famous for that. Which is why I always thought that coaches just remain on your wage bill without any duties instead of actually getting sacked. Juric was appointed as Genoa's manager three times within two years. Don't think he would've done that if he didn't have to.
As he's still under contract he's obligated to take up the post he was fired from, if he refuses to he would therefore be in breach of contract. Probably resulting in some kind of legal settlement or fine, more than likely an agreement for the contracted pay to cease.
Maurizio Zamparini's 15-year list of coaches was insane. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Palermo_FC_managers

I tried to warn everyone but no one listened. This is what happens with short-term thinking and firing a top coach who had the club in a good place, just a few points off top 4, after 2 consecutive European finals. Now Dybala will probably leave. It could be years of mediocrity coming.
