The biggest change is not having to empty your pockets before going through a metal detector. The new security area speeds things up quite a bit. I thought we were going to be in those security lines forever, especially seeing how long they were even before the gates opened at 3:30. They may have exaggerated to get people there early, but if you arrived around 3:30 and saw those massive lines, you certainly had to wonder whether you were going to make it.

They had field side tables and tables up by the edge of the berm that I don't recall being there before, but those were probably just for this game.

I was pretty shocked there was no sponsor for the hats they gave away. They weren't the highest quality, but they tend to slap someone's name/brand on giveaways.

I've never heard of the DJ and could have done without it, but people seemed to like it. I'm guessing it was a one-off.

Yeah, the security gates process is much improved. Massive improvement.

I bet we might see some sort of in house DJ incorporated. Obviously not someone famous like Alesso but the Kings have had an in house DJ for warmups and between periods for a long time. Galaxy tends to borrow ideas from their big brother.

Yeah I liked the hat. I tailgated too long to get one but I liked the look of it.

The metal detectors are great. The laser lights and new hype video before game start and halftime was cool but not anything super special.

Of course they mistimed the helicopter fly over and that sorta was a bummer.

They had some new food choices and kiosks but the same cashiers who didn’t really know to work the cashiers or pour a beer. And the La Galaxy app got updated which meant it wasn’t working either.

So I wouldn’t say any of the changes were earth shattering. But they were nice touches. The upgrades on the field were waaaaay more exciting.

stadium improvements coming (mostly for the rich people) but I like that the seats will be replaced and color coordinated with the ACB end.

not sure the right thread for this.

seems like some strategy shift here. They don’t appear to be selling new STM memberships in upper deck or some corners?

Im currently in upper deck. They didn’t say I had to move so maybe it’s just new accounts.

She performed on like a Wednesday night. The violin part was very memorable. She deserves an opportunity on a Saturday night when there’s actually some people there.

I’m actually Trickhog’s deputy. (Please don’t mention this to him. He’s probably forgotten appointing me and I don't want to embarrass him!)

A few excerpts, hopefully fair use:

Once the model franchise in MLS, the Galaxy had become a dysfunctional mess. And it didn’t look like things would be getting better any time soon.

So when the Galaxy announced that Chris Klein, who presided over that free fall as the team’s president for a decade, had been given a contract extension, Andrew Alesana had seen enough. The team already had his money — he’d recently renewed the season ticket he had had since 2007 — but it would no longer have his support.

“They already had our money. That’s all they care about,” he said. “The media scrutiny brought by the boycott grew to a point where [AEG] could no longer hide from it.”

So just before the start of the 2023 season Alesana, president of the LA Riot Squad, joined with three of the team’s other main supporters groups to organize a boycott, promising to stay away from games until changes in the front office were made.

    And guess what? It worked.
    .......
Nor could they ignore the planes circling the stadium calling for the firing of Klein and technical director Jovan Kirovski. Or the empty seats and the boos that cascaded down after games. Seventeen months later some AEG officials admit privately that the boycott influenced their thinking and might have accelerated changes that were already being contemplated.
    .......
As a former Galaxy player, (Here) Gómez has a different take. For him, the turnaround this season in Carson was personal. And he’s happy the fans see it the same way.

“When you go through the Galaxy, it’s once a G, always a G,” he said. “There are clubs that you go through in your career, there are fan bases that you come across, that seem to always remember, seem to somehow hold on to the past. There’s something to be said about that.”

“It’s special because not many places around the world have that,” he added. “It wasn’t too long ago that the Galaxy was the only team you spoke about when you spoke about a super club. It lost that, and now it’s regaining that, and people love it.”

Especially the people who boycotted the team to make it happen.

Sorry if I came across as a busybody but I just said that because I care about this site. In my experience the better boards have a no naked links policy. I thought we did too.

There used to be a poster on here who would throw up a half dozen links a day w/o comment. (Obviously not hav77, who is one of our most active and appreciated posters, at least by me.) There were so many links it was clear he didn't even read them; it was just junk posting. A no naked link policy duscourages that behavior and instead encourages the poster to curate what he posts. And it gives us readers a better idea of which ones we want to check out.
If I’m alone in this preference I will shut up about it. Carry on folks.

I don't think there any policy - god knows I post naked links all the time, but it is a nice gesture to add a description to links to help people know what they are clicking on.

I saw "naked links" and got really interested, all of the sudden.

Imagine my disappointment as I read on!

no worries, just keeping you on your toes :)

I do agree with you, I know when I add links, I try to make a comment about the article or add an excerpt I found poignant, its in my opinion proper etiquette
