Okay, I can't watch the RSL-Colorado match on ESPN2 and DVR the Bulls game on ESPN, because the constant ticker updates will spoil it for me. I figured I could get away with the other way around.

But nooooo, they give the score away in the 20/50 update, or whatever the hell it is.

grumble grumble soccer getting taken seriously grumble grumble careful what you wish for grumble grumble

Technically, wouldn't this mean they hate basketball?

The Bulls game isn't tape delayed, which was the whole deal with the Champions League.

About the "ESPN hates soccer" thing:

That joke is not funny anymore after being used a million times. Also, it demeans the people who actually care about the success of this sport in this country. ESPN does a decent amount of stuff for soccer now, but they have years to go until they make up for years of disrespect. Yes, there are people on this site who will complain about anything. But saying that ESPN hates soccer in a joking fashion anytime somebody complains undermines the arguments that really matter. Basically, you're excusing ESPN from any blame and going against the fans who want better coverage.

    ESPN hates soccer....

It's obvious if you've watched the RSL-ColoColoRado game.

Heh heh heh: Non-constructive, trolling, flaming.

    ... oh, wait ... :D

    Dave O'Brien hates soccer. ;)

I got to tell you, the strongman competition on versus is far more exciting than the RSL-ColoColoRado match.

I actually thought it was a pretty good game, especially the last fifteen minutes of the game. Now maybe if you said the bullriding show on versus was more exciting than the game then maybe i would have beleived you.

I would beg to differ my good man, I found the attacking pedestrian. Little to no linkup between Adu and Cunningham. Colorado had few ideas as well.

I will give Adu credit, he did try to press the issue, but that team can't integrate its parts.

Well we are talking about the worst team in the league in RSL. I think RSL can be a decent team but Mehdi Ballouchy can't be their playmaking midfielder. They have a decent forward in Cunningham, they have decent wide midfielders in adu and klein and they have a vet in pope on defense. i think if they go out and get a proven playmaker they can make some noise. I don't think Ballouchy deserves to be on an MLS team especially if he is supposed to be your link in the midfield. Maybe he can retire and be the teams water boy.

Cheap TV: buy a roll of black electrical tape and put it on the bottom of your TV
Expensive TV: Change the aspect ratio to zoom, where it cuts off the outside inch (or so) of the picture.

    Though I agree with this.

Why would anyone expect an exciting game between the Rapids and RSL?
I certainly didn't,which is probably why i didn't think the game was too bad.

Are "the people who actually care about the success of this sport in this country" the same people who send incoherent, whiney, gramatically-incorrect e-mails to "soccer bashers," then post those e-mails here on BigSoccer so that "the fans who want better coverage" can tell them how cool they are?

If so, "the people who actually care about the success of this sport in this country" need to shut the hell up.

    Oh, and ESPN hates soccer.

Since the game was over by the time you posted this then What Not to Wear would have been more exciting.

Mehdi was terrible and Cunningham seemed only interested in going 1 v 1 not working with anyone. Adu was trying and Klein was trying but they were on opposite sides of the field. I think Kreis will work things out there but they need a big forward who wants to do some dirty work up top.

Of course!! How could I have forgotten about the anti-soccer conspiracy?
Wait, I know. I forgot because the anti-soccer conspiracy doesn't exist!

Soccer? Don't you mean football? indeed.

I can't find the thread that someone like CLEATS posted a while back. It characterized ESPN apologists as being "spread eagle with the enemy."

    It was funny.

ESPN cares about ratings and profits. They'd broadcast a snowflake festival if it made them money.

This is, after all, a netwrok that overhypes a spelling bee, for pete's sake.
