For instance, one could wonder where Asllani comes from, but her first name actually gives it away too much easily.
I also think one very important factor for many when choosing is how common the name is. A lot more people named Stenström than Rubensson for example.
That is an important factor, but I always had the impression that how common the name sounds is have more impact than how common it actually is and the -son names sounds more common than all but the most common "burgers names". But at least in this case you are most likely right.
They're rushing this like it's a men's league - a day early! - (Svenskfotboll.se) News stories relate to the squeezed timeline in 2020, and the pressure on the squads: Numbers are thin, even at Rosengård and Gothenburg: "We have a very good squad but you can't play football with just 15 outside players. And especially not when it becomes such an intense schedule. We have a thin squad and this is undoubtedly our Achilles' heel", says Rosengård's team captain Caroline Seger. - (SVT) Yellow card anarchy: The number of bookings for a suspension is rising from 3... to 4! It's gonna be chair-shots galore out there. - (SVT.se) Also, substitution rules will change - all temporarily. This is aimed at protecting players from injury/tiredness, I assume? Youth wins out at Örebro: The club's youth program is highly regarded and has won a €50,000 Uefa grant. - (fotbollskanalen / Archive) Hannah Wilkinson to Djurgården: An injury replacement at the Stockholm club, the striker played for Vittsjö in 2017/18 but got an ACL injury. The New Zealander was at Sporting CP in Portugal last year. The new lawless league will suit her, says Google Translate: "Hannah is brutal and reckless in the penalty area". Er, it should say 'ruthless' - refs are okay with that (Camw, cc-by-sa)
I actually think this hit the top team harder, since they may try to run on just their senior team players since they normaly can do that. I doubt very much that the team further down, that regulary have much or even most of their bench filled with girls from the U19 and even U17 teams will hestitate a moment to call upp a few more of them.
Swedish football had financial help from the government, but the proportion of money to women's football is shockingly low: https://www.svt.se/sport/fotboll/herrarna-far-97-procent-av-krispengarna Private sponsorship has also declined - companies no doubt going through problems themselves. ⬤ Rosengård has injuries to Seger, Bennison and Serbia's Čanković at the moment - they and Gothenburg have made a few signings: https://damfotboll.blog/2020/06/20/styrkebesked-av-goteborg-och-ett-internationellt-svep/ (Archive) ⬤ Bad news for the previous 3rd-place Vittsjö, missing their star midfielder Almqvist: Predicto! Women's football was featured on some Swedish postcards and stamps over the years, this one with Hanna Ljungberg. The 2020 league kickoff is tomorrow. The Sportbladet Play website has live coverage for paying subscribers, all of the games, I think - hopefully Damallsvenskan.tv will have highlights too. But somehow, the greatest Swedish football video is free! Makes no economic sense
It's terrible, the govt has only based it on past crowd figures (as I understand it?/ misunderstand it?). Like that was the only important factor in a club's financial wellbeing.

More from the Scrooge situation, the women's clubs association has approved the pandemic aid funds, but with criticism: "The distribution of the government's support package to the clubs in Damallsvenskan and Elittetan has created dissatisfaction. FC Rosengård had four times as many spectators last season as the Elitettan team AIK. Nevertheless, the reigning champion received SEK 155,681 - and AIK received SEK 507,560." I can only guess it's because of AIK's connected men's team and its gates/TV deal, or something like that? Dunno what the government's views are, but it implies that the real victims are big businesses The women's club transfer window is starting soon, 15 July to 11 August. AIK are the 2nd-division leaders after 5 weeks, with 5 wins. www.youtube.com/watch?v=heF4dAejuko (Wait, there are two Sandviken clubs in different countries? It was only last week I realized the same thing about River Plate.)
It's kind of ridiculous yes , AIK getting more money. AIK had planned some kind of big event where they had the ambition to fill the men's stadium (good luck) and got more money because of that. Yes, there are definitely two Sandviken clubs, with names from where they are located. Sandviken is a neighborhood in Bergen (Norway), but also a town in Sweden.
It translates to "sandy bay" so there are probably a few more places located near a sandy bay with this name. I know at least one more neighborhood in Sweden called Sandviken.
⬤ Matchday 3 10-11 July Champions Rosengård fall to their first loss, as Loreta Kullashi is the 2-goal hero for Eskilstuna: Match reports by Mia Eriksson, Vavel.com: Göteborg FC 4 - 0 Växjö DFF FC Rosengård 1 - 2 Eskilstuna United Linköping FC 1 - 0 Djurgårdens IF Vittsjö GIK 3 - 3 Kristianstad DFF + Uppsala 0 - 1 Piteå The Rosengård-Eskilstuna goals are on Aftonbladet. Eskilstuna moved to 5th and also signed Sweden U23 left-wingback Amanda Nildén. Rosengård have just signed NZ fullback Ali Riley on loan for the rest of 2020. ⬤ Matchday 4 15 July On Wednesday, the leaders Linköping were stopped with a 2-2 draw as a late penalty goal by Julia Karlernäs kept Piteå undefeated in 4th place. The games keep coming - there's a midweek round today and one of the year's biggest matches, Gothenburg v Rosengård, tomorrow, Thursday 30 July. Is it too many matches, too soon? ACL injuries are mounting this year. And in the considered opinion of Gothenburg's team doctor, "If you look at this in a medical point of view, it is completely insane" https://www.vavel.com/en/football/2...r-of-anterior-cruciate-ligament-injuries.html

Vittsjö's manager Thomas Mårtensson has had to cope with an injury crisis and only used 13 players so far. He's asked the league to extend the season or even expand to 14 teams. Table, matchday 6 of 22
Today on SVT1 in Sweden is Rosengård (2nd) v Piteå (4th). https://www.svtplay.se/fotboll-damallsvenskan

⬤ Matchday 7–9 Vittsjö moved themselves up from the foot of the table with their first wins of the year: 4-2 v Uppsala and 2-1 at Örebro, as Clara Markstedt scored four goals within a few days. But the club were knocked back to 12th and last place, by their 3-0 defeat at Umeå. (A later win for Vittsjö in the Alphabetical Derby has put Växjö last, at the midway stage.) Actually, the relegation fight this season is what Gothenburg's doctor would call "insane" - none of the bottom 8 teams are safe. ⬤ Matchday 10–12 The top two clubs' scores went through the roof, most shockingly Rosengård won 7-1 against Linköping (3rd) in round 10. Days earlier, FCR had beaten Uppsala 9-1 away, and Gothenburg won in Piteå, 5-1. A bad run has taken Piteå from 4th place down to 10th in under a month. Rosengård 7 - 1 Linköping, 12 Aug Mimmi Larsson 5 goals, Caroline Seger, Katrine Veje / Uchenna Grace Kanu (Highlights / Match report) Larsson: Top scorer so far - (img: Bcroks, cc-by-sa) But then, held 0-0 at Djurgården (8th), Rosengård went three points behind Gothenburg at the top. The top 2 had drawn their first encounter, making this week's match of 2nd v 1st all the more important in the direction of the championship: Rosengård v Gothenburg, 23 Aug (Highlights / SVT TV / Match report)
⬤ Matchday 13–15 Gothenburg's title challenge was hurt further, as they somehow failed to hit the net at Kristianstad! It ended in a 1-0 win for KDFF with a nice goal by Norway's Therese Sessy Åsland. And two more wins for Kristianstad put them into 3rd place, with an outside chance of vying for the second Champions League spot. Piteå 2 - 3 Kristianstad, 6 Sep Janogy 16', Karlernäs 61' / Åsland 10', Persson 33', Summanen 91' (Highlights / Match report) Rosengård have won all of their recent games to lead the league by 3pts. Some stumbles by Linköping have knocked them down into 4th, while Vittsjö have now won 5 games in a row, rising from relegation status up into 5th place. They got a dramatic away win in their latest game: Linköping 1 - 2 Vittsjö, 13 Sep Ebere Orji 84' / Mie Leth Jans 56', 91' (Highlights / Match report) Jans, a Danish champion now at Vittsjö (Andersschou, cc-by-sa) In the mini-league of the relegation places, it's a fluid situation, but Uppsala are in last place, having lost to both Umeå and Piteå. Växjö are still in the drop zone, but they lifted themselves off the bottom when they pulled out their third win of the year, 3-1 at Umeå. Just above the relegation places, Eskilstuna lost their matches to the top three clubs, and Djurgården beat Piteå in Stockholm, 1-0, with the Dutch midfielder Sheila van den Bulk on the scoresheet. 7 games to go:
We've had a few interesting weeks in Damallsvenskan. Only 4 rounds left now but still loads to play for! Kristianstad, who are going to sacrifice a foot or three to get the much desired Champions League spot they've longed for for years, surprisingly managed to beat Rosengård away this weekend. That's definitely never happened before. They now have that 3rd CL spot, but can they keep Linköping off their back? These two teams meet on the final matchday in Kristianstad. Rosengård now dropped points 3 league games in a row, another thing that's almost unheard of. So in three games they've gone from being 3 points ahead to being 4 points behind Göteborg. Göteborg looking good to get their first league title ever. Piteå, who won Damallsvenskan as late as in 2018, are now suddenly below relegation line after having lost away at Växjö this weekend. Only 1 win in the past 13 league games so things are looking pretty bad. But 1 win for them and suddenly 5 other teams could be in danger of relegation so a lot can happen there still. Uppsala now have 10 straight losses and there's no saving them now. Not a shock to them or anyone else that they will be relegated, they were not ready for Damallsvenskan.
Ah, yeah, I had forgotten that 3rd place wins a European spot as well... They'll qualify to play in the Champions League one year from now, right?
