I was just thinking...He is overall better than Paule and he could play defense and defensive midfield well. The reason he was left out is because Mike Jefries did not like him at all and played him very little when he used to be a regular starter under the past coach so the Burn finally gave him the boot, now the question is, how expensive is he? shouldn't be much now!

He's a loafer in practice and won't play for less than 100k. And you'd better believe BB knows all about that from his buddy Jeffries.

Zarco was a great player for the Burn who always gave 110% during the game, when it counted.

While it's nice to see guys busting their butt during practice, remember, it only matters during the game.

In the middle of defense, or in the midfield, he was instrumental in every Burn success, except last year.

He won numerous honors, and was even MVP of the team one year.

It was obvious last year that Jeffries didn't have a place for Zarco as a first team player and this is why Zarco is leaving, but he's a great player and you guys would be lucky to have him.

    different burn perspective..........

I also recall a story about him refusing to sub in one games as a defender. He thought he was only a midfielder and didnt' want to play anywhere else.

For whatever reason, he obviously had a problem with Jeffries (much like Graziani) that only got worse when Chad Deering knocked him out of the starting 11. I don't recall him having any problems with Dave Dir.

That is completely false. Through first hand observations of practices since 97, I can catagorically say Zarco was one the hardest workers on the Burn. He frequently stayed after and wroked on different elements of his game and to do extra fitness work. He was without fail one of the hardest working players on the Burn roster.

Zarco's ideal position is marking back in a 3-5-2, although he plays well as a sweeper in that formation also. When Dallas went to a 4-4-2, we could just never fit him in. He's very tactically savvy, and a quality finisher when near goal. He never worked out for us in central midfield although we benched Deering to make a spot for him there.

I don't think he's a likely candidate for NY because he's not going to work for league minimum, especially in NY, where bums make more than Metro probably wants to pay.

Well, you have a first-hand perspective, and I don't. But I heard from a friend of mine at a Ft. Worth newspaper that Zarco didn't put in the effort for Jeffries except for game-days. Maybe it was a personality conflict rather than a personality trait - but again, you'd best believe Bob knows all about it.

Yes there certainly was a problem between Jeffries and Zarco. Mainly it was that Jeffries didn't see Zarco as a starter. People I know, who know Zarco well, said he wasn't happy all year.

I still think MLS could use Zarco somewhere.
