That was a rough weekend of MLS action without our beloved Red and Black. Why did Dallas have the weekend off? Was there a scheduling conflict at Dragon and/or Invesco? Does the Dallas Cup have that much pull with MLS? Inquiring minds want to know.

Maybe the Burn wanted a week to digest what they learned about how it's going to work out at the new stadium. But you're right, it was a brutal weekend without Burn soccer.

I agree. I had to watch that boring United-Fire match. That match was a full of crap.

However I'm looking forward to this weekend's match against the Revs. :)

For the Burn, it was a good weekend to have off:

Countess gets an extra week to recover, hopefully he'll make the game this weekend.

EJ gets an extra week to get over his nagging injuries and practice with the team.

Cerritos gets in some extra practice, hopefully he'll be a go for Saturday.

Pareja gets a week of recovery the does not cause him to miss a game.

    Time for more trialists...........

hopefully they gave each player a bucket of green paint to paint over those god awful markings on the turf.

2 buckets for Kreis....make that 3, he can have O'Brien's bucket in honor of his GOLAZO vs LA (one of the best long-range bombs I've ever seen)

Nobody will argue that it wasn't good for the team to get a bye week given all the injuries on the team. I am just curious about the circumstances behind the scheduling.

My best guess is that it is due in part to stretching the season out a bit longer than in year past.

I know this is not on topic but does anyone else not really impressed with the "competition" this season. I keep seeing all these ties and they are boring me, there just aren't many teams outside of Columbus and L.A. (kinda) that I see giving us problems. Seems like theres something missing you know? Anyways, onward to the Revs., should be an easy win.

I heard that Dallas asked for this weekend off due to the Dallas Cup and Easter weekend. My guess is that Colorado couldn't use their stadium for some reason and that is why Dallas didnt play there..

In reality there is a very complicated answer to this question, but no doubt that Dallas wasnt interested in competing against the Dallas Cup.

I think they were off last Easter as well. No sense in having competing soccer events in the same city I guess.

That makes alot of sense. There would never have been a good time to play. Saturday was finals and a few consolation games while Sunday was finals.

With only so many off weeks for a team, does taking one so early help or hurt Dallas' chances in the long run? I know we have some nagging injuries and this helps but I wonder whether having the week off in June/July wouldn't have helped us more over the long season.
