Me and a couple of my friends are coming to the game this weekend and I neede advice on where to stay. I found a Super 8 Motel on ERL Thornton Fwy, a few miles east of the Cotton Bowl. If anybody knows if this is a decent hotel or a decent part of town I would be grateful to know, as I am not to familiar with the Dallas area. If anyone has any other advice it would be of much help. Thanks.
That area's OK, but it's certainly nothing to write home about -- lower blue-class, small industry, shut-down shopping centers, etc. Personally, I'd recommend Mesquite (5 miles to the east), or farther away, North Dallas/Addison, or Plano. These spots have a lot more in the way of restaurants, shopping, etc, and room rates shouldn't be much higher than at the ERL Thronton locale.
Not that it isn't a good area of town, but personally I wouldn't go so far as Mesquite. Look north on 75 in east-central Dallas. I don't know about Super 8s, but there are some decent hotels there and 75 is pretty close to a straight shot into the CB. Also, take a look at the Travel Guide: http://www.dansoccerzone.com/SoccerGuide/guide.php?id=48 and Keep the SA page in mind for ticket info: http://www.sams-army.com/index.php?Mlist=event&Mid=56 Feel free to email me privately at klindstr@flash.net for other info.
i agree with kev..i30(rlt)is not a good side..plus its dry(membership required) but a thousand liquor stores..go figure..well i guess the dry line starts about jim miller? the radisson at 75- mockingbird is good, maybe pricey..but its on rail line.and close to cotton bowl..about 3-4 miles via bus.. frank
Get on hotels.com or a site like that. If there isn't a convention in town you can usually get rooms fairly cheap in Dallas. For instance the Doubletree on Central & NW Highway for ~$50. The Radisson near SMU & Mockingbird station as FrankC suggested would my choice, as well.
Radisson Hotel & Suites 2330 W. Northwest Hwy Dallas TX 75220 Is this the address on the Radisson being discussed? Thanks,
