This is ridiculous. The MLS all-stars should play a second-tier team, not the world's best. They are not a real team that is experienced playing together. It only embarasses the league in the world's eye when they flounder, a-la Real Madrid this year. I'd rather see us play a Valencia or PSV or Newcastle, etc.

    such a pessimist.

What if the MLS allstars beat Chelsea...then it will be heard all around the media in Europe..will definitely be on the uefa website and all the like.
If you beat newcastle maybe it will go on some brit newspapers and the newcastle site like it happened with Fulham. If we loose then no pos rep for MLS outside. If we win we might just get some mroe attention than with smaller teams.

This is exactly what they said when they sent the Allstars to Madrid, "What If . . .", look how that worked out.

Not saying the match shouldn't be scheduled, because that's not my call, just simply laying out the facts.

This is different, though. First of all, it's here. Second, it's much further out from the European season. When Madrid clobbered our boys, they were getting near their beginning-of-the-season form. The All-Star game comes at a time when the players will be nowhere near match-fit.
