With only 14 teams left in D3 (down from 38 in 1997), they're going with a single table this year. But the playoffs (four teams) will be done regionally, with the four regional "winners" advancing to the semifinals. Which seems to me to defeat the purpose, but it is what it is. I'm not sure they can even do a true single-table, home-and-home, 26-game setup (D3 never plays that many games anyway), because there are only three teams out west - two in California and one in Utah (one of whom, you'd assume, will make the final four), and the travel (for everybody, not just them) would be harsh and expensive. Interesting, though. A single-table in American soccer (to go with WUSA).
Single table, whoo-hoo!! Of course WUSA (yawn) doesn't have much choice do they what with so few teams LOL
