D1 Final Who will play Man U and Arsenal next year, and who will play Crewe, Walsall, and Gillingham.
I'll go with the Blades. They've been excellent all season long and showed a lot of character on Thursday. The Blades-Forest semifinal was a delight to watch, and while watching the games I thought that the winner would surely win the final. Credit to Wolves for winning against a Reading team that's tough to beat, but Sheffield United really looked like a Premiership team from the second half of the second leg throughout extra time.
For an Albion fan, this Division 1 final is a matter of the lesser of two evils. Of course, W**ves are our rivals in the Black Country and it would gall any Baggie to know that in the season we go back down, the scum are taking our place in the Prem. But Sheff Utd are nearly as low in the eyes of of Baggies fans, especially after the "Battle of Bramall Lane" during our promotion season of 2001-02. We still believe Warnock told his players to take out Albion players when things were going bad. It was the first time in many years that a League match had to be forfeited due to the Blades not having enough players on the pitch, mostly because of a slew of red cards!!! Very reluctantly, it will be my hope for a United win... and hopefully a swift return to the Nationwide next year for the red half of Sheffield.
This match will be tough for Wolves, but this is definitely the same side that lost to the Blades at Molineux back in October. You cannot take too much from the return at Bramall Lane because both teams were confirmed playoff places at that time. Sheffield United did show spirit and resilience against Forest, but I think Wolves will be more than up for this match seeing that a win will end 19 years of exile from the top flight. I am (cautiously) optimistic that Wolves will beat Sheffield United and will go on to stay in the Prem for a long time.
By the way, in my earlier post, I meant that this Wolves side is NOT the same one that lost to the Blades back in October.
Yeah, it could happen... Not too sure about this bit, though... Are you sure you would fare better than we did???
Not too sure about this bit, though... Are you sure you would fare better than we did??? [/B][/QUOTE] We can't do much worse than you did.
Need I remind you that Sunderland did do worse? And even with Sir Jack holding up a virtual "blank cheque" for Wolves, there's reason to believe Wolves could do the same, should they be promoted.
Just the same, there's reason to believe that Wolves will have the capability to stay up SHOULD they make the Premiership. We'll just wait and see on Monday shall we?
For some reason, I don't think we should second-guess whether or not teams will go up before 1) they play a single game in the Premiership next season, 2) they make any offseason signings, or 3) before the playoff final!
Shef Utd will probably have the better of the play, but Wolves will hang on grimly. After 19 years wait, the exile finally ends: Wolves to win 2-1 after extra time. As for staying up in the Prem, a very cautious thumbs up.
Div 1 Final. I follow Reading and was upset when they were K.O.d. Wolves were not much better but had the lady on their side. Because of our defeat, I would like Wolves to win as it would make the ROYALS feel better. Unfortunately. I expect the Blades to win and I predict a one goal difference. Lets wait and see. Next year it will be Reading that goes up!
Whichever side is more likely to sign an American player is who I'll root for. Which side needs a left-winger more?
Sheffield 0- Wolves 2 Mark Kennedy 6min Nathan Blake 22min Can't believe this. Wolves barely beat Reading. Reading would have won if they had a goal scorer for the day. Anyway, United deserves it after the controversary of the Fa Cup Semifinal. Also it would be great for Tonge and Brown to stay with a lesser club instead of being picked up by Liverpool or Man or Arsenal for a ridiculous amount of money.
