Sheringham for DC United? Is that what you're getting at? Tottenham announced today he would not be offered a contract for the upcoming season, and we know how Ray loves the aged....

    about half way down http://soccernet.espn.go.com/headlinenews?id=252607&cc=5901

    WED Game?!

Will ANYONE be there to see this game? We can hardly get 10,000 for a league match on a weeknight. I am going to make a sad prediction here... RFK is going to be embarrasingly empty :-(

    Re: Re: WED Game?!

hehehe I know I can count on my closest Barra brothers! :) --its the 14,000 illegitmate ones i have out there that worry me... :)

I still have nightmares of how quite RFK was during some of those Wed. night US Open Cup games. I could almost hear the coach screaming on the other side of the field! (then again, that could have been someone being beaten by CSC in the stands... not sure :)

I get the feeling that people are just excited about watching DC United play a real premiership team... But the thing that could ruin it (at least for me) is watching DC play half its bench (Between US nats and this we have a LOT of games these two weeks) with an empty a$$ stadium watching. Those poor Brits coming over are certainly going to be underwhelmed. (well unless we can get them drunk enough at the Barra tailgate :)

Was this that game in which an MLS team gloriously defeated one of 'Europe's finest'?

yeah i personally don't count that match for much more than what it was--a publicity stunt. not only was the squad full of retired guys for spurs, the goal was actually scored by a guy not on our team but loaned for that game from another mls club.

Anyone that considers Sp*rs "one of Europe's Finest" needs to have their mental capacity examined. 42 years of not winning their domestic league precludes any team from being in that category!

As for this game, it will be a friendly and meaningless, just like the game in London. I don't really see anyone claiming it is otherwise.

Exactly. Although beating a midtable English team is something to be proud of and helps the MLS. Right now it is baby steps with setting these friendly matches up.

Hope you make MLS proud with a W.

Make MLS proud? There's more on the line than that.

DC United has a three game unbeaten streak against the EPL.
