    Hello,

I'll be in D.C. for work-related reasons for a few weeks, and was hoping to attend the April 3 game against San Jose. As I've never been to D.C., I was hoping someone could help me out with a few questions I have.

    1. Will I be able to get to the stadium via the metro? I won't have a car, and would like to avoid paying cab fares if at all possible.

    2. What should I expect to pay for a ticket? I don't mind GA, but would prefer sideline.

    3. Are there any bars that get the PPV package and would be showing the KC game later that evening?

    Thanks,

    Nathan

the stadium is basically next to the metro, so if you are staying near any metro, you will be able to get to the stadium quite easily. as for tickets, they are fair priced. you might want to just call Ticketmaster and find out exactly how much you are going to have to pay. for general admission tickets last year, i seem to remember paying in the low 20's for tickets. as for the PPV, i couldn't tell you. sorry.

by the way, none of us really seem to know for sure if the upper bowl of the stadium is going to be opened (it usually isn't) for the first game. if it isn't, that leaves only 25,000 seats for that opening game. there is no way this game doesn't sell 25,000 seats, and since single game tickets go on sale starting tomorrow, it would behoove you to get a ticket fairly quickly just to make sure .............

The Stadium/Armory Metro stop is right by the stadium, and can be reached via the Blue and Orange lines.

A map of the area surrounding the Stadium/Armory stop can be found here:
    http://www.stationmasters.com/System_Map/STADIUMA/stadiuma.html

To get to RFK, exit the Stadium/Armory station in the direction marked for the Stadium, continue in the direction of the escalator, turn right on East Capitol Street and you'll see RFK.
Individual game tickets are not yet on sale. Last year, single-game ticket prices were $38 for Mezzanine, $28 for VIP, $22 for Premium, $16 for Spectator. I haven't heard anything about price increases this season.

A seating chart with pricing breakdown can be found here:
    http://www.dcunited.com/index.cfm?section=facility&cont_id=94142
Summers (steps off the Orange Line) will likely be showing all available MLS games.

    http://www.summers-restaurant.com/

Check back for other places, but the most likely can be found here (locations also convenient to Metro):

Just got back from the Supporters Summit and this question came up. The upper deck will definately NOT be opened. Once the lower bowl gets sold out, that's all she wrote.

    Thanks!

Thanks for all the replies. It looks like the training center I'll be staying at is at the Virginia Square stop on the Orange line. So, looks like it will be easy to get to RFK.

It looks like I'll take the cue of others here and buy my ticket early. Any past precedence for how long the tickets will last?

Any idea how hard it will be to get an autograph from Adu/Convey/Eskandarian? Do United players generally do autographs after the game?

Is scalping illegal at RFK? For now I'll be going to the game solo, but was wondering in case I find someone to bring along and the game is sold out.

As for the autographs, I'm sure that day will be a zoo at RFK. Last year I was trying to get a Rimando autograph for my little brother after a game, but Dema was the only person signing that day. Dema seems to be pretty good about sticking around.

Scalping does happen, and you might find folks who bought too many/had someone cancel...but it might be smart to get them in advance just in case.

    See you there.

    Re: Thanks!

Autographs aren't that hard to get if you sit in the right section... Section 110 is right behind the home bench and Sections 112/113 are near the tunnel to the home locker room. Avoid 111 as it is entirely behind the dugout and you can't hang over the rail there, although you could easily walk over to where ya need to be.

Oh, if you get seats in those sections, try to get them farther back, since the midfield TV camera can block the South goal completely if you're too low and you can't see the far side of the field very well. Also, there are these a$$clowns that come by at the beginning of second half slinging T-shirts which attracts a huge pack of yelling kids (and moron adults) to the lower parts of those sections. But to get close enough for autographs, you need a ticket in those sections to get past the ticket checkers. (tickets in these sections are $22)

You should have no problems getting tickets prior to the game... there are always scalpers, but your best bet is to hang out near the Lot 8 ticket booths because that's where most people with extra tickets will get rid of them (I sold my extras like 5 times last year) and you'll prolly get them for face-value or less.

    Good luck!

Sorry, if that wasn't clear, I meant the ticket booths closest to Lot 8, there are no ticket booths actually IN Lot 8. :)

You can call United directly today and get single day sales - they went onsale today.
Don't know when Ticketmaster goes on.

Why do I have to find this out from you and others on BigSoccer instead of from the official team website? There's absolutely nothing on DCUnited.com promoting single game tickets or saying when they go on sale and how to order them.

Did anyone catch this in the article?:

"In addition to current VIP seating, the team has also created a new "Fantasy Seat" section, allowing fans to sit at field level, inside the walls of the stadium."

Just sounds like the first row to me ;)

Thing is, Ticketmaster still isn't selling the tickets for the home opener or any other DC United games (and it's after 10 a.m. now). And there's no way to order single game tickets on-line at dcunited.com that I can find. I assume calling the phone number for group and season ticket sales is what you got to do.

Not sure how this is different from the field-level seats they had in front of us all season (well, actually more in front of say, 131 on down toward the LaNorte side. I saw quite a few shocked faces on some of the moms who brought their kids to sit there last season during some of the chants :) And probably some of the stuff I was yelling at the opposing players :)
They also revealed the seating capacity, 24.603 - I had thought it was 23,500, so it is nice to have an extra G. However, some earlier aid 26,000, so those folks better be on the phone getting tickets.

It says you can order tix via dcunited.com, but it doesn't appear they have a real easy link to follow or anything unless you happen to be inside that story.

Talked to Scott in United ticket sales today. When I asked how the first day of opening day tickets sales was going, he said it was just crazy there. Don't know whether they are taking individual ticket orders or not, but I'd call if you can't get anything from TicketBastard. All they can do is say that they aren't doing individual tickets...but they are so accommodating they just might be.

And, if you aren't ready to spring for a full season pass, Plan A of the half-season gets you both opening day and Nottingham Forest, plus two shots at the Scum. What could be better? I'm sure Scott or Brian would be glad to accommodate on that one...

Can't find a way to buy on DCUnited.com

Tickets not available on Ticketmaster.com yet

No way in hell I can make it back, but I would like to buy my Father inlaw two seats.

I'm sure it won't sell out today or tomorrow. I bet a week out it will be sold out as the pre-Freddy press starts to heat up.

I called the (703) 478-6600 number (for season ticket sales) and got transferred to a ticket sales rep, but only got an answering machine where I could leave my name and number. That was soon after lunch. Haven't gotten a call back yet today. So we'll see if and when I get called back and what the ticket situation is by then.

One thing to keep in mind, some local youth clubs sell tickets to games. I worked at PWSI (in Woodbridge) for the past two summers and we had something like 50 tickets for every game that we sold for $13 each (or there abouts). I don't know if these clubs will have them for the opener, but keep an eye out.

And, although listed as an option on the initial screen, you can't actually buy upper deck tickets from TicketBastard.

    Sheesh...$5.35 convenience charge on a $28 ticket. That's a 19% screwing.

Not that I need tickets...I was just testing. TicketBastard is just another reason to get season or half season A from United. Tickets at a discount rather than with a surcharge.

If you buy a ticket package, does DCU offer discounted parking as well?

You can also get Flex packages. No discount on the price, but you can send it your stub ahead of time so you'll get a seat. Also, you avoid paying ticketmaster.
