why was i under the impression that Jaime has scored over 80 goals by now? could have swore he was on 82, 83.
If I'm reading mlsnet correctly, Jaime has 85 goals - 83 of which were scored for United. I can't say whether that includes playoffs or not. Which is exactly right, since Tyler clearly states that this is through 2004 *slaps forehead*
Thanks for all the information! MLSnet used to have it, it's a shame they don't anymore. I used to also be able to buy the DC United media guide, but they don't sell them at the stadium anymore. Americans love statistics and I know quite a lot of people who buy baseball media guides, so it is shocking to see that MLS has taken a step backwards in this regard.
Media guides pop on on ebay all the time. Also, DCU might sell you one if you call and ask. I assume they have a bunch lying around.
They also have been giving them away on the Soccer Show, our local radio show hosted by folks from right here in the DC United forum. Dunno if they've run out yet.
Let's just remember that as a particularly awful back pass & own goal. He never really went to the metro. I mean that's just ludicrous.
I don't know which was worse, watching him score that goal or him coming to the Barra aftergame tailgate wearing a Metro's polo
According to my records, for regular season and playoffs, Jaime, as of last night, has 97 goals. He has 9 USOC goals. 10/27/96 - Semifinal against Dallas (2) 10/30/96 - Final against Rochester (1) 9/3/97 - Semifinal against San Francisco (1) 8/4/99 - Third Round against Charleston (1) 6/14/00 - Second Round against Charleston (1) 7/26/00 - Third Round against Rochester (1) 8/9/00 - Quarterfinals against Miami (2) I think he only has two CCC goals (Olimpia in 1999 and Harbor View (a) in 2005). I'm a little busy right now and can't track down the 2000 CCC and 2002 Giants Cup stats.
Ugh! I am sorry, but I can't see thinking of Jaime as anything other than second banana, as much as I love the man. Etch is the George Washington of DCU, and Jaime the Thomas Jefferson. Without Etch, I honestly don't think we would have won ANY of our championships in the first four years. Jaime gets credit for the fourth. Where I feel at odds with the numbers is seeing Nick at the top of the stats for keepers. Even today, I think I would take Scott Garlick in the nets over Nick. He does a lot of things well, but I get the willies on crosses even to this day. I just don't think he controls the box all that well and makes the simple look adventurous. In five years when most keepers are reaching their stride professionally, his lack of size will get more and more obvious as the reflexes dwindle. I hope I am real wrong, but I have more hope for Perkins' future (even though he reminds me of what Bart Simpson would look like grown up).
