Can Peralta play outside defense? or mostly center?

Was at practice today - Peralta looked good - other new signs participated as well; Carvallo, Gallardo, Martinez and Niell were all there...

posted some thoughts on the blog...

Is Peralta standing on a box or are Martinez and Carvallo really that small? (I know Niell is really that small)

Heh might be the bend of the camera angle as well. But dang that makes Niell look just tiny! Hopefully he's got Yoda like skills that turn him into a blaze of speed when he's out there on the pitch.

He's a zaguero - center back. I don't know that he has played outside or not, but anything is possible...

    When was that, exactly?

Peter Jackson directed this news conference.

But Peralta is 6'2, which is gigantic by DCU standards.

I believe I read that Kasper hinted that he could also play outside but in the center "mostly".

I have a good feeling about them all, but maybe the least for Martinez. A hunch he may not work out. Hopefully it's dead wrong.

    In re: Peralta.

I believe, but am not 100% certain, KP was talking about Martinez. But I love the fact that there are so many exciting signings I get them confused.

The two newest signings that were brought in as reinforcements that have me excited, are little niell and peralta. I had a good feeling about Niell, hopefully he could be our De Avila when he played for the metrostars.

Thats good to see that Peralta's english is decent enough to talk big on the field.

Niell IMO is my most exciting addition to the roster which i have a good feeling will surprise us all even though hes pocket sized. What i said before about his thickness, seems to be what who ever wrote this article agreed with me. I hope he's our big surprise off the bench when jaime tires/ vice versa. Jaime should get alot of rest and be great off the bench this season. He basically is our raul, although raul is younger and starts again.

And on these comments about his touch do not surprise me. I also believe this guy is the real deal. I just want to see a player who brings that flashyness back to DC, like etch; with his step overs and back heels, nutmegs, etc.

They should have lined them up smallest to tallest and had AT&T sponsor the press conference.

He isn't near ugly enough. That guy was the ugliest player ever to play in MLS.
    Or probably even watch MLS.

LOL Well with a nickname like the smurf im pretty sure they didnt expect him to be the "hot one"

Yep thats him. What do you know about him? All we know is what the argentine press says, didnt get to watch much arg. Jr. games. They say hes really fast, but had a hard time winning minutes on the pitch.
