the number of mls players that have graced the cover of SI, by their lonesome, has just increased by 50%
well, it seems almost anti-climactic at this point, but kudos to MLS and Stewart for getting this done. as a fan of MLS more than any particular team, here's to hoping Earnie stays healthy and has a great run here on this side of the Atlantic.
So how, if at all, does this affect the plan to draft plans. Eskandarian or Clark? Stewart obviously can help up front. United seem to be more in need of help in the defensive mid. Or they can trade the pick...
I think Hudson is still going to draft Eskandarian.. Alecko is a goal scorer and United were sorely lacking in that area all last season.. Besides, Stewart's effectiveness will probably only last about 3 seasons max and United will have by then hopefully developed Alecko into a big time MLS goal scorer... It's a tough decision for sure but if they don't draft Alecko, all they have in the cupboard is a 20 yr old (Quintanilla), an 18 yr old (Quaranta) and a journeyman (Curtis).. My bet is that they do indeed still select Eskandarian..
Trecker report runs contrary to every other. Does he really know what is likely to happen, or is he just pulling scenarios out of his arse?
I'm glad this thing finally got announced. I was beginning to think that MLS was going to say, There will be an announcement in 30 to 60 days. -VON
