Have to love this $hit..its almost like a "What if"...MLS had a players strike going on...... I tell you what....I will drink 1 shot of whatever...if these newbie get off their a$$ and put a few goals in....that may give the certain slackers a seat on the bench for a bit....\\//\\// || ||\\|| !!!!!! ~~~ Worm~~
I am definitely happy that a player like Cannon got a chance to play last night. True, he may not be the best player but we can not make that judgement without giving other young players the opportunity. Hopefully, other players will get a call.
His first name is Garlon http://soccernet.espn.go.com/match?id=151959&cc=5901 http://www.northernvirginiasoccer.com/nvroy_roster.html or Garland http://uslsoccer.com/stats/2004/1077059.html http://www.uslsoccer.com/teams/2004/roster/22363.html and for those who didn't know, the two teams had a standing relationship for 2003 (I'm not sure about 2004) http://www.northernvirginiasoccer.com/nvroy_pr_03_Feb_26.html This probably mostly involved loaning down players (I know Warren played for them 1 game this year) - I think some others played for NV last year? http://www.uslsoccer.com/teams/2004/roster/22363.html
I'm all for players getting opportunities, but did Cannon play/practice with DC more than once before the game?
I liked the fact that he had an 'edge' to him. Though in a closer game, he might have drawn a couple of cards.
Anyone's better than Stokes. OTC is miles better than Stokes, and Cannon (while the foul was pretty blatant) was better than OTC.
I believe we have a perpetual winner in the "Most Obscure Player Ever to Play for DC United" discussion...
That guy basicly costed us the last 2 goals. I am hoping to not see him in a DC United uniform again. And David Stokes was head and shoulders better than Cannon. I dont think he would make the Richmond Kickers.
