Apparently someone just shot that clown Charlie Kirk in the neck?

Is there no end to this lunacy......

If the right to guns is God-given - wouldn't the same right to not be rounded up by the Gestapo for no reason but the color of your skin and the job you work also be a god given right?

It all rather depends on just how specifically dementedly you assess the notion of God.....

The big lie is that there is some secretive plot out there to "take away" these rights of prayer, tradition, etc that these liars keep telling people about.... that allowing every loon easy access to a gun somehow unentangles.....

    Last reported words in public:

“Do you know how many transgender Americans have been mass shooters over the last 10 years?”

In response, Kirk said: “Too many,” as the crowd clapped.

Follow-up question: “Do you know how many mass shooters there have been in America over the last 10 years?”

Kirk replied: “Counting or not counting gang violence?”

Seconds later, Kirk could be seen to be struck in the neck falling backwards in his chair.

This looks like a hit. He wasn’t shot by a loon in the front row, it’s estimated the shot came from 200+yds away.

Yup, it looks like a pretty professional job at this point, very tidy. I shudder at what comes next.

I wonder if this will help take the light off the Epstein files since every other distraction has failed?

    (yeah it's a conspiracy theory .... but).

I’m not sure what good diving into conspiracy theories does at this point. Too easy to believe, but rarely true…. There are more than enough crazy people out there - many of whom know how to shoot. I think what this really nails home is that this heated rhetoric leads hotheads to doing crazy and violent things. We are getting way too much heated rhetoric from both sides, even though I think there is a lot more organization from the far-right. What everyone needs to understand, is that by painting everything as the end of the republic, it will increasingly lead to unstable people doing crazy things…

I know it is hard to put the toothpaste back in the tube once it has been squeezed out, but those sane leaders who are still around need to step up, show some leadership, and shout down the crazies that are leading this country down a dark path to nowhere.

The problem is that that 2nd paragraph has been vitally true ever since the hour when the disgusting, beyond the pale, Orange Pig-Brain was allowed to stick his slimy bug-eyed mug back out of Mar-a-Lago and enter it back into the Republican presidential candidate nomination race......
And no-one has yet bothered to show any leadership on the matter

Here’s a huge part of the problem, in my opinion. All the Republicans have in terms of leaders are Lumpy and the people who trip over themselves to pay fealty to him; the Democrats have no one. Bit difficult to find sane heads in either place.

This (from another closed thread) being exactly my point, when people want to start equally doling out responsibility for increased violence.

I'll take thoughts and prayers versus the alternatives, for sure.

So it was Charlie Kirk that got shot right? not Cartman dressed as Kirk?

Ones a vile piece of shit caricature that embodies some of the worst in people… and the other is Cartman

Kirk chose to be a vile white supremacist hatemonger who promoted violence. That doesn't mean he deserved to be murdered.

The idea that he “deserved” what happened is not the point... its more of an overall acceptance that this is a continuation of the path that culture wars politicians and podcasters put the nation on.. its a continuation/escalation of things like J6, the Paul Pelosi hammer attack, the political murders in Minnesota..

That it happened to someone unequivocally cruel and who has helped cultivate this current environment is an almost expected well served bit of Karma

Right now most folks on the Right and Left have condemned what happened… when the murders in Minnesota happened the Right didnt really give a crap… though they did make jokes about the Pelosi hammer attack

Also while one side says solidarity and we need to cool the temperature of the nation others are saying:

If hes too small potatoes then go see what Trumps message is… its not about peace and unification thats for sure

Spare a thought for that person’s relatives and children… I may detest him personally, and feel whatever I do about his passing, but what do you think his two children are feeling right now? Dear god, have we lost all semblance of empathy in this country?

But what exactly is the outcome you are calling for? In what world is what you are trying to intimate ever acceptable behavior? I’m assuming honest opinions here, and if so, please look in the mirror and truly ask whether what you are calling for would ever be acceptable behavior for any civilized person. It’s not, end of story. You should be ashamed - one hopes you are just riled up in the moment.

So we need to race to the bottom to match them? This whole thing is a dark farce… the guy who patently talks about gun rights ends up getting killed by someone with a gun, acting outside of the law. But I think even given the temptation to talk about “just deserts” that instead we need to take a step back and recognize this for what it is - a wanton disregard for the political discussion that we MUST be able to have, without fear of violence, in order to continue this grand experiment of popular rule and governance.

People need to stop with the knee-jerk ideological responses and actually start to try to support folks who are going to get things done rather than stoke ideological division. If we don’t’ wake up soon, we’ll all suffer the consequences.

No, no knee-jerk ideological response or race to the bottom or anything like that, not by me anyway. My point was and is that there is a dearth of responsible leadership in the US at the moment. On the Republican side they’re too interested in Lumpy, his machinations and protecting and promoting him at every turn. On the Democratic side, there’s just a dearth of leadership, responsible or otherwise, period. So looking for sane responses, leadership and someone to turn the temperature down is just not happening, today or tomorrow.

Now, that doesn’t mean we should throw our hands in the air and proclaim this impossible, but to bear in mind that it is going to take a real political leader of substance to even begin to find a way forward here. That person is not on the scene at the moment.

    Are you f'ing serious?
Who organized to BURN DOWN CITIES over the death of a criminal drug addict?
Who didn't organize and burn down cities over the targeted, racist killing of a woman on a train?
Who continues to silence debate via killing and assassinations?
Who are the hundreds of thousands of scumbags celebrating this murder?
None of it is the "far right."

We spent most of last night's segment on Tell Me Everything talking about the assassination of Kirk and how Xn nationalists were already calling him a martyr. I opined that Trump would posthumously award him the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Then I saw this moments ago on the BBC.

    So predictable.
