https://worldsoccertalk.com/tv/soccer-on-the-cw-channel-wants-tv-rights-for-espn-games/ Would be good, one of the problems with ESPN+ is that there's just so much stuff there that finding, keeping track of and watching stuff on ESPN+ is harder then it should be. Having it on CW networks would be good, especially for those of us with DVR's to integrate it with our existing stuff.
The CW is know to be looking for Sunday sports programming. The most obvious choices are soccer and NHRA.
Granted, Deadline and WST as sources are the equivalent of listening to people that specialize in different conspiracy theories, but the idea isn't a bad one. Most weeks there's a Bundesliga match in the Saturday 12:30 ET slot and some Sundays have a 1:30 ET slot. La Liga, Eredivisie, and Jupiler Pro League all have early to mid afternoon matches as well. Serie A (which is up for new TV rights in the US) routinely has a game on each day of the weekend that airs at 2:45 ET. If they end up back with ESPN they could be in play for this. Throw in the USL games that aren't getting CBS/CBSSN/Golazo/ESPN2 coverage and you've got some domestic stuff to show as well. It would be fascinating to be able to tune in on a Saturday and catch a Bundesliga match, a La Liga match, some ACC football, and an Xfinity race all on a single network TV channel.
If the craziest rumors come true the ACC will essentially get dismantled in August and the Pac-12 might come back from the brink of death with Cal & Stanford rejoining while bringing SMU with them, leaving only 3 slots to fill after the 25-26 season which happens to be the year the Mountain West TV contracts run out. At that point they poach 3-5 MWC teams and go from there.
I've heard that. The rumors involve Florida State and Clemson to the SEC (the Big Ten loves the academic rating stuff, which those schools don't have), but the rest is news to me. The absolutely stupid part is the ACC having teams in California...oh and you damn well know a Big Ten team like Rutgers or Ohio State will have to make two trips to California for basketball or softball, whatever. (The Ohio State basketball teams are actually scheduled for games at BOTH of the LA teams. If they have any brains at all, it'll be a Wednesday/Thursday and Saturday/Sunday situation.) I remember the original 2020 Columbus Crew schedule. It had two trips to LA...one for each team...and why? It's bonkers. On the other hand, I don't mind a shakeup to keep things fresh. New opponents are rarely a bad thing.
