    can we avoid the curse?

ever since DC (maybe you could argue the fire in 98) won the cup in 99 it has cursed teams to out and out suck (DC/KC) or at the least humilating first round exits from the playoffs (SJ/CH).

looking at our roster, i believe we have by far the best team in the league. an awesome core group of returning players plus some very intelligent acquisitions. there's not another team out there that can say they have returning core players and great new acquistions... but a championship isn't won on paper (otherwise we'd have two from our 98 season :) ) + we have a rough opening schedule.

can we be the first team since DC to repeat?

With the amount of salary cap leeway your team has been granted, there is little that would stand in your way of walking away with the title again. If winning the championship of a league that cheats for you is what you want...enjoy.

He's right, of course. The league is our b@*!ch, it will always be our b@*!ch We like it that way and he has to just learn to live with it.

LA has the deepest roster in the league. The two teams that have the best chances against them would have to be DC and NE. But one questions is with all the games LA is going to play this year. They're going to have a Man UTD. like schedule this year, competing in what 5 competitions? (Concacaf, La Manga, US Open Cup, MLS play, Peace Cup) That's a lot of games in a season so the depth that LA claims to have will definately be tested.

LA is stacked everywhere except forward. An injury or slump to Ruiz and it is going to be hard to score playing Sigi's style. IMHO, the key to LA's season is finding a second scoring option at forward. Neither Cup team from last season can rely on the sort of season that Ruiz and Twellman had. It would be great if Albright became the finisher he is capable of becoming, but he and Glinton do not appear to be there yet.

So that means you are not too impressed with Alex Pineda Chacon? (and I thought we now had a good viable 2nd attack weapon after Pescadito! What do I know?)
