There is no news today, and likely won't be this week, but I'm fully convinced that Mighty Mighty Cucho's days in the Charlie Brown shirt now have a firm number attached to them. Let's enjoy him while we can, shall we?
But Chris, he's got a good mortgage on some nice land in town. Who can pass that up? /s I hope that he plays and gives it his all.
Since you apparently know something nobody else does, are we going to see him on the field again? Or was CLT his last game in a Crew jersey? And what the heck happened that could have been bad enough to warrant this?
Bez has explained countless times that they have prospects lined up for every player on the roster. Look no further than the fact that we signed Rossi so quickly after selling Lucas that they could have bumped into each other at the airport.
At some point it would be nice to hold onto some of these better players. If it was a Cucho decision that’s one thing but if he’s not happy to be leaving that’s a problem for me.
I only know what I've heard - none of it from people employed by the Crew or MLS. But this is a (relatively) small town and people bump into each other and stop to chat. As for whether we've seen the last of him, and what exactly happened, I have no idea.
This was a topic of conversation among some friends the other night: If Nancy or Bez is going to get a bad rep it's going to be for not being loyal to players, especially beloved ones.
Lucas clearly didn’t want to go but I did think Rossi fit what Nancy wanted to do better. Cucho would be hard to replace with a “better” fit.
This is certainly true and is true for any decently run team. Shit happens and in any business you can't let yourself get caught flat footed. The problem I see is that we're not talking about right backs here. Cucho is a forward, a hitter and an MVP caliber one. Those are tough to scrape up.
if/when he gets sold, I wonder if the negotiations were ongoing prior to the CLT game, or if his outburst forced the hand of Nancy. it sounds like there’s a “team ethos” that isn’t being followed..
Based on the way Nancy has discussed the situation, it would seem some incident prompted the sale process to commence, assume that’s what the end result will be.
The Crew Twitter account just posted this and has everyone assuming Cucho is back. Oh boy. A stunning team goal slammed home by Cucho 🤩Our first goal against the New York Red Bulls is our @CelsiusOfficial Goal of the Month for March. pic.twitter.com/iCCtVfRwjT— The Crew (@ColumbusCrew) April 4, 2024 I will continue to hold out hope that Lamacchia is lying piece of crap that will never again be trusted with anything he says. Sadly, I doubt this will be the case and he will continue to be an honest, upstanding citizen.
It's not a contradiction. He's repeating what he's heard from random Applebee's waitresses and cheqp hookers wandering the streets. I believe that he has heard this stuff. I'm just not at all sure that it's true. As for the Crew tweet it would seem to be a subtle way of saying that everything is OK. I dont recall them.ever posting a goal of the month before. It would appear to be a conveniently new thing.
Oh I definitely believe he’s being truthful based on what he’s heard. I too have some doubts about the info that he’s hearing being true, but that may just be wishful thinking on my part.
I wonder if Cucho said something like I had a $____ offer for me and I'm too good to play in this league on crap turf with crap refs and really got into it with the coach. I'd wager an approach was already made earlier, and the crew agreed after that game. Edit: or if it's a release clause, Cucho agreed after that game. Some differences from the Lucas rumors include: the initial buzz the Saudis were poking around, then some MLS twitter personality got the scoop that the Crew would sell him, and then Tommy Scoops confirmed. Here it's all local I'm assuming. True Applebee's waitress stuff.
