Ah yes, we'd all do well to recall what an offensive juggernaut this team was prior to Cucho's arrival. I can't believe our new DP would hold his teammates back in such a manner. It's a shame that he's shouldering the burden of scoring. Yes, I am smart.
I can't believe that the morons who run this team went out and paid 10 mil for a goal scorer and then actually expect him to score goals. Absurd In any case, it seems very much like nobody wants and expects Cucho to score goals more than Cucho does. His only problem is that the defense leaked a late goal a d coughed up a sure win. Did anyone see his Hiltbrand post game interview? He had scored two freaking goals, including one goal of the year candidate, and was totally bummed out.
Unless they are expecting him to play CB too, the other players are right to expect Cucho to score goals and he's right to expect them to support his offense and to be able to close out a game.
And Etienne has scored two goals in Cucho Time. But, you know, everybody just wants Cucho to goal the ball.
Etienne also had that kind of/sort of/maybe breakaway/odd man rush when it was 2-1 where he possibly could have gone to goal, and tried to force-feed it to Cucho and overcooked it. Which, OK, that happens sometimes. But I'm already wondering if there's going to be a trend of guys going out of their way to set him up when there's an easier option. At least to start off.
It’s a dream start for him. Clearly got bags of talent and isn’t a 23 year old prospect. I expect Lucas will a big fan because it will draw some heat away from him. Both will thrive.
I think Yaw will start looking better with Cucho. Some in and out runs with Cucho should be nice if the tactics work out that way
Cucho has now played 137 minutes. He has taken 10 shots, 5 shots on target, and 4 goals! One goal every 34 minutes.
[At a current rate of 2.63 goals per 90 minutes and with 14 games left for the Crew, he’s on pace for somewhere around 40 goals.] Dreams made real?
Stern's first year is the only thing I can recall that even comes close. 26 goals in 27 games (25 starts). 3 more in 5 PO games. I think there were USOC goals as well, putting John over 30 for the campaign in total.
He's scored 3 of his goals vs DC and FCC who are bad at defense. If he finishes the season close to a goal per 90 minutes, he'll be doing fine.
For those who care: We hear you and want to find something new and great as well. What’s everyone’s ideas for a new Cucho chant? Let this be the thread. Reply away! When I saw this tweet, I immediately remembered this hilarious Pipa story from Pablo Maurer: I’ve told this story before. Pipa Higuain once pulled up at Crew Stadium in a 1996 Nissan Quest minivan. He got out of the back seat wearing a free, promotional, shitty Crew string backpack and smoking a cigarette. He nodded at me and walked into the stadium. Legend. https://t.co/JmuyoUCzFb— Pablo Iglesias Maurer (@MLSist) March 30, 2022
Cucho was hurt but has been great since he came back he has been getting better and seems like he is in good form now. Despite all that he has 3G & 5A in 10 games. I think he is about to catch fire and end up with about 13G & 13A if he stays healthy the rest of the way.
