Put another way, the Haslams are paying a slimy, reprehensible piece of shit in Cleveland $50 million a year to go out every Sunday and take a big old dump on the field, but Cucho, who wins them championships, is bringing home around 5% of that. For a guy who you're not embarrassed to talk to children about. I'd like that big VP hoorah who now apparently runs the Crew to tell us how many DeShawn Watson jerseys they are selling up there.
Apparently Cucho was left off the latest Colombian squad due to disciplinary infractions. 1854690298951254234 is not a valid tweet id
Not unexpected but considering the record of the Fighting Messi's when he wasn't available, not sure if MVP is warranted.
We lost just one game when Cucho did not play this season. We picked up 15 points from 8 games without him across all competitions, or 1.88 ppg. Miami picked up 38 points during the 20 games they played without Messi, or 1.9 ppg. Pretty close to dead even. Also, it's hard to argue for a guy who registered 43 G+A in 41 appearances across all competitions over a guys who registered 42 G+A in just 25 appearances. I agree that there are numerous reasons why Cucho deserves the award. We made two cup finals. He dominated the Leagues Cup final. He was the best player on arguably the best team throughout the regular season, CCC, and LC combined. But there are plenty of reasons why Messi deserves the award too. And, as annoying as it may be, the name and status of a player definitely affects the voting. So Messi is always going to have an advantage. Ultimately, I'd say the average final vote is pretty fair. If Cucho could have dragged us to at least the conference finals, I think he might have been able to edge out Messi.
The votes were cast in the regular season….and it’s a regular season award so Leagues Cup or CCC should in theory have no impact on the voters.
Right. In theory those things shouldn't effect voters. They still do. I don't think Cucho would have been as close to Messi if it weren't for what the Crew did in CCC and LC because it's hard for voters to erase that from their memory.
I was surprised it was that close. And the voting window was open before the season ended to just after the season finished. You were only to consider the MLS regular season.
Cucho actually logged some defensive actions this year and didn’t stroll around the field when not involved with the ball. That’s the difference for me. having said that, I’m surprised it was this close.
Since MLS announces a list of "finalist", I am thinking they have to choose from the list of "finalists".
