Wasn't able to see Nacional-Medellin in "El Clasico de las Montanas" because my dad thought it wasn't safe to go to the stadium. Thought the "Barras Bravas" would get the better of us.

My cousin's husband was also not "interested" because of the violence that has plagued South American soccer in recent years.

The funny thing is that had I known that my cousin WAS willing to go & that a trip to a town just outside of Bogota, to visit an uncle, was cancelled because that uncle was coming to Bogota anyway, I would've gone to the Nacional-Medellin game with my cousin.

It probably turned out for the best, though since I already had a plane ticket, back to Bogota, for the day of the game.

Not to mention that my cousin is a gorgeous, vivacious 28 year old young woman & protecting her against "rabid" soccer fans would not have been fun or healthy.

My two cousins and both of their girlfriends went to the nacional v medellin game. One of them is a nacional fan and the other 3 are medellin fans. I think all four of them survived cause I talked to both of them 2 days ago over the phone. I think its more dangerous walking around in LA than going to see Nacional v Medellin play.

Obviously you haven't been to soccer games in Colombia because stadiums are packed with beautiful women. She wouldn't have been alone.

    Its "Clasico de la Monta~na"

Welcome to soccer Colombian style, it is a religion, people even bring "el niño jesus" y "la virgen Maria" to the stadiums....

about the violence, you just have to sit away from "las barras bravas," specially Los del Sur, they are the worst ;), and yes your cousin wouldn't have been alone, specially in Medellin, I remember watching Copa Libertadores, before the games they would just pan around the stands, focusing on all mamacitas...
I taped some of "El show de la Libertadores" and you can see it there....

    tal vez no!
