it is poignant to read this article.

Michelle Akers is the greatest women's soccer player of all time and the only team sport athlete about whom I can say won every game I ever saw her play. To read how the effects of heading affect her memory pain me.

This is all the more so because, as one of the few people to have seen a full broadcast of the '91 final, I considered her header the most artful and athletic goal ever scored in a WWC final (until Lloyd's blast from midfield in the '15 final). To know that it may have taken a toll on her memory has me identifying with her expression of how she watches Lloyd do headers today to score goals.
