The Wolves are done. New Britain didn't want to continue funding and a buyer couldn't be found. A message from their coach (and sometimes named Rev coach candidate Dan Gaspar) can be found at:

    Hmmm,

Their GM Eddie Davdison is a pretty good guy...

... wonder if he'll land on his feet anyplace else?

There's actually an article on Chris Bergin's site about the Wolves, Davidson, and Davidson's future. He doesn't say much specifically about where he's going, but it sounds like one of the two pending Connecticut USL sides seems likely.

We (Soccer New England) ran full coverage of the Wolves' demise in our December issue (with some nice reporting by Kyle McCarthy), just after all of the pertinent events took place. Dern Republicans forced Mayor Pawluk's hand down there in New Britain...despite the fact the Wolves nearly broke even last year. It's really too bad, because they seemed to be going in the right direction both on and off the field.

You can read the piece here.

Davidson will join the Pro-Subbuteo Players' Tour, or PSPT.

it was my understanding that the wolves had a possible buyer but the town wanted all concession money and the rent was a little too pricey so the guy said no thanks

You are correct. The town wanted all the concession stand money plus something like $3500 a game for rent. Eddie said that hartford and New Haven are looking into starting a team to get into next year's schedule. We'll see. Plus, I wouldn't put it past him to be in the Subbuteo World Cup. I know he posted his game pics to the web one time. I'm long since retired from that game.

with a little fixing up, Dillan stadium in hartford would be a pretty good place to play for a team. especially with the Adriane's Landing Project going on.

Dillon Stadium was where the Hartford Bicentennials played back in the 70s. Talk about a name that becomes obsolete by itself... I don't know if it is the proper width, since the NASL certainly didn't care about that.

There was also a rumor of a guy who was a big West Ham fan starting a team called the Hartford Hammers (at least that's a decent name). Anyone else recall that?

The new UCONN stadium in East hartford would be a sweet place for a MLS team to play. I recall reading how it was built with soccer in mind in hope to attract the NCAA championships. I believe the field is suppose to be 120 x 70. It will hold up to 35k from what i understand.
