Lampard has agreed deal to join Chinese side Guizhou, claims club owner

Frank Lampard will sensationally quit Chelsea in the January transfer window and join Chinese side Guizhou, according to reports.

The 34-year-old midfielder will be out of contract at Stamford Bridge next summer and has repeatedly been linked with a move away.

His club have told him he will only be offered 12-month extension but Lampard could be set to turn that down in favour of a lucrative move to China.
The club's owner is reported to have told China Central Television that the midfielder has already agreed a deal.

He would be making a similar move to former team-mate Didier Drogba who joined Shanghai Shenhua when his Chelsea contract expired this summer.

Should Lampard make the switch, he will play alongside former Manchester City defender Sun Jihai and Bosnian striker Zlatan Muslimovic.

The former West Ham man's future, along with that of Ashley Cole, has been shrouded in uncertainty for some time.

The Blues are refusing to be drawn into a bidding war for the England duo despite the prospect of them leaving on free transfers in the summer.

Owner Roman Abramovich is following the lead of Arsenal by offering one-year deals to 30-something stars.

Lampard and Cole can enter into talks with clubs when the transfer window opens on January 1.
David Beckham's LA Galaxy are also interested in offering the former a two or three-year contract.

MLS commissioner Don Garber previously insisted there would be no shortage of suitors were Lampard to make it known he wanted to end his career in America.

Garber said: 'Frank Lampard's a great player. He has a great history with the sport.

'If he decides he wants to play in Major League Soccer, I'm sure any club would be happy to have him on their roster.'

Interesting. Many online sources are confirming it, but it hasn't been confirmed by Chelsea as of yet. In fact, Di Matteo was quoted saying that he does not believe in the rumors.
