Mark Milligan will count as a AFC player. each CSL team is allowed to have 4 imports: 3 non-AFC player and 1 AFC player. Same thing for the ACL competition. There was no special case for AFC import before. I guess that's why Aussie players are becoming popular these days.

Just read that Ng Weichao becomes a foreign import this year because he is registered with HongKong football association, separate from China.
His club. zhejiang greentown is not very happy about it.

the newcastle jet owner is greedy !!!! he said that was an offert u can't refuse, of course 3M AU$, even if a team from micronesia offert 3M AU$ he will accept, but that guy play bitchy for Griffith, he is ok for a one year rent 350K AU$ but with the clause of "no playing against the jets in ACL" lol so u r greedy and u think other r stupid to accept this kind of clause. U rent this player for a small price and the reason why Beijing want him is for play against ACL teams inclunding Jets, maybe he is scared that griffith may kill them

Con doesn't want Joel to play against Jets as it would be the ultimate disrespect to Newcastle fans to see their best player playing for another team against their own team just because the owner wants some $$$

here is a interview with Ryan Griffiths who is becoming a star in china

    http://sports.sina.com.cn/j/2009-02-02/11014194615.shtml

and here are some of the general translation,

    about how joel joins Beijing

    1. Ryan suggests the club to do so, he tayped some matches of joel and showed it to the club on January 5th as he backes to china, the club decided to buy him later.
    2. the club need joel as a winger to replace Honruras international Walter Matinez who left guo'an to join Spanish club Alaves.
    3. they are brothers so the club believe they should cooperate well.

    about the three griffiths
    1. the two brothers are better tham him
    2. he want Adam to join CSL too, He had offered a trail in Tianjin Teda but failed to sign a contract.

    about the new season
    1. as a joint, Ryan and Joel hopes to score 25 goals in total and bring the club what they want - the League title. last time Beijing win the league was in 1984, 25 years ago.
    2. I know CSL better than joel so this time I'll be better than him.

about choose Guoan after the liaoning contract finished
    1. Guo'an is a powerhouse club & I like the style of the team
    2. It's very comfortable living here, the stadium is only 5 minutes away from the headquarter of Guo'an and ryan could live with his family everyday.

    about future
If I can I would like to stay at Guo'an until I retire from football

good to hear from him. He is the type of player who should be playing in Asian Cup Qualifiers not useless players like Dean Heffernan and Tom Pendeljak
