End of the game. El Olmedo 2 vs Emelec 1. Andres Vinueza scores the winning goal for El Olmedo. Great shot by him. Unfortunately for Emelec.

Emelec lacked consistency in the midfield. There was nothing on offense. If not for the shots for some players of Emelec, there was no offense in Emelec. Bad loss for the team.

I saw the game between D Quito vs Emelec. Emelec did not make good attacks. The team could not score on Elizaga. Emelec lacked offense. Emelec needs players that score goals. Emelec does not have those type of players at this time. I believe that Emelec will not end in first place for this part of the tournament. They lost too many points on ties instead of winning those games. Emelec almost lost this game at the end of the game on an attack made by Bevacqua.

Geraldo Pelusso might return to EMELEC. Man, That's one hell of a great Coach!

Emelec needs 1 or 2 good attackers that score goals. That could be a boost for the team.

Great game by Emelec. They were very offensive from the beginning. That was amazing. Emelec had so many opportunities to score goals that made LDU L look like amateurs. All the goals were great. Enner Valencia (2), Fernando Gaibor (1) and Cristian Menendez (1). Emelec has a better chance to finish in first place in this part of the tournament now that Barcelona tied with LDU Q 0-0. Now the game between D Quito vs LDU Q will be decisive. I hope D Quito does the right thing in winning the game.

D Quito won 1-0 vs LDU Q. That is great. Bevacqua scored. I heard Elizaga was not letting any ball go inside the goal. He was blocking shots left and right. He was amazing. Now, Emelec has to win this Sunday in Estadio Capwell vs Espoli and Emelec will end up in first place for the First Stage of the Tournament. Emelec depends on themselves to finish in first place. No matter what.

Mission accomplished. Emelec was able to win vs Espoli 2-0. Great performance by every player to stay focus and complete the final goal. I really like the offensive mindset that the team has under Coach Juan Ramon Silva. He did a great job. Menendez and E Valencia scored. Great goal by E Valencia. I see a good future for him. He is developing into a great player. Congratulations to the whole team and the fans that support the team all over the world.

    Saludos. :)

Santiago Biglieri played for Emelec for about a year. He played left midfield. He was a descent player. He used to cross the balls from a free kick or corner kick. I used to like the way he played for Emelec. As why he left Emelec, his services were no longer needed. Emelec has several national players that play similar to him. Whatever team that he might play, he will be a good player to have for any team.

any news on Emelec's next coach? I hope to god Nehme doesn't stick with Silva. I was hoping Gerardo Pelusso returned home since he was a player and emelec was his first club that he coached. Emelec should have won the Championship last year and I hope they win it this year. Sampaoli was a great coach. he was just crowned Champions of Chile.!!

Sampaoli was a really good ass coach. Heavily criticized at the beginning, but by the end of the year he made Emelec into a strong team. If he would have continued this year, Emelec would have been ultra offensive. The problem with Emelec is that they change coaches each semester or each year. They need to stick with one good coach for a longer period to get good results now in the international level. Sampaoli was THAT guy for this team to do that. This team has players to be the most aggressive by far in the campeonato. What they've done at the youth level since 2008 deserves props.

Sampaoli was a great coach for Emelec. Emelec could have been Champions last year with him as a coach. Emelec's mistake was to allow LDU Q to score 2 goals in Quito. That was deadly. Even though Emelec won 1-0 vs LDU Q in Estadio Capwell. Emelec needed to score 1 more goal to tie the series and go into penalty kicks or score 2 more goals to become Champions. The final series in Guayaquil was close but it was not enough. Emelec ended in second place "Vicecampeones". Emelec missed a lot of opportunities to score during that game. As for Sampaoli, he tried his best by putting the players that he thought that could win the game but the players could not score the goals that Emelec needed to become Champions for 2010.

Estos "Clásicos" valen v.rga. No van a estar los titulares de ambos equipos y así no funcionan bien los equipos.

As for the game of Emelec vs Nacional, Emelec missed a lot of opportunities to score. In the second half the defense collapsed that is why Anangonó scored twice. Emelec played well but it was not enough. Emelec, has to win, vs Barcelona in Estadio Capwell this Sunday. If not, forget about the "segunda etapa". As it is D. Quito has a head start over Emelec.

Emelec is looking better. By beating Espoli 4-0 in Estadio Capwell and Liga de Loja in Loja 2-0. They are making more collective plays and are scoring goals. That is very important. At this point, Emelec has to get better so if they have to play 2 final games vs any team, the team could have a higher level of game by December.

    ARRECHO EMELEC

Emelec missed a lot of good opportunities to score goals vs D Quito. They could have easily won the game. Wilmer Zumba was great on goal. He saved a few key shots that he was able to prevent from becoming goals.

beautifully played. possibly the best away game I've seen emelec play in recent times in an international tournament. Coach did bad subs though. Pedro Quinonez and Marcos Caicedo should have remained on the field. Olimpia got lucky as ish and won but that game was clearly dominated by emelec.

emelec tends to play horribly at home from what I've seen in these tournaments so theyre gonna have to play even harder than today to make it to the round of 16.
