If Emelec do not win their game vs Wilsterman, they are out of any possibilities of qualifying to the next round. Emelec has to win no matter what.

straight mamadas from emelec. their fault they didn't win, it was unbelievable how much they screwed up. But that's what they get for not putting huevos in their home game vs Internacional. those 2 points came back to haunt them

Not only that but Emelec had plenty of opportunities to score vs Wilsterman. I am talking clear opportunities that the Emelec players just missed. Great for Achilier in the first half to block that shot during the first 10 minutes of the game that would have been a clear goal by the forward of Wilsterman. I cannot remember how many opportunities of goal Emelec missed but if I have to guess I would say at least 5 or 6 clear ones. This was the game that Emelec had to win because now that Internacional has to win their game in Brazil, it will be harder for Emelec to go there and win that game. It is not impossible but it is more complicated. It will be interesting to see what Emelec does in Brazil. Win or go home empty handed.

Great win by Emelec in Sangolquí. Menendez, Iza and Strahman scored for Emelec. Now, Emelec has to go to Brazil and beat Internacional. That is it. No big deal.

I believe that Emelec has a great team and that they could go to Brazil and beat Internacional. I have faith in Asad. He is a winner. Winners know how to make things happen. At this moment, Emelec is playing well. Let's win.

Emelec lost in Brazil...I think the team needs a year more to settle, but they'll be better next year in international competition....assuming they can keep their roster intact.

i said this last year. It's not gonna happen. And they will definitely not keep their roster the same. IF they did, i honestly think they would pull off better futbol than Liga b/c individually their players are better than ours with a few exceptions of course b/c they can't match someone like Barcos, Enrique Vera, or Norberto araujo. Other than that their players are individually more talented than ours.

If Jaime Ayovi, Rojas, and Biglieri stayed this year along with Sampaoli, I think Emelec would have gone to the round of 16 of this Libertadores. Sampaoli was 10 times more aggressive than Assad and changed Emelec IMO. Samapoli discovered Gaibor, Morante, Marcos Caicedo, Enner Valencia, etc. Who has Assad brought to the table? Nobody. He hides all those guys in the bench with the exception of Morante when he's 100% and Gaibor who gets a decent amount of playing time but SHOULD be a starter without a doubt.

I've said this more than once before. Liga is probably the 2nd or 3rd with the best roster. If Emelec and los Chiquitos learned how to use their tools correctly, then we'd be talking about something else here. With the little we produce in Liga, we're surviving and doing better than them in international competition and that's what makes us big and admirable.

Emelec had to tie or win in Chiapas. Emelec had to win in Bolivia. In Brazil, it would have been a success to come with a tie. Unfortunately, Emelec could not complete their objectives. Had Emelec had a better result on any of those away games, the team would have qualified. Chiapas was not a great team and qualified. Now, Emelec can concentrate 100% for the Campeonato Nacional in order to end in first place for this first part of the tournament.

Again, Emelec could not find a way to win in Manabí. What a disgrace.

Amazing victory by Emelec over LDU Q. Emelec had 13 consecutive touches of the ball by players of Emelec before Gaibor scored that goal. It was a beautiful goal. The whole game was a team effort. Mendez played great. Gimenez tried but he missed a couple of opportunities of goal. Gaibor and P. Quiñonez are always fighting for the ball. Fleitas came in from the bench and he played perfectly. Menendez is always fighting for the ball and trying to create something for the offense. Klimowicz was on point when he had any action. Achilier was solid on defense but he has to control himself with the fouls. M Caicedo was not as effective as in other games. Baguí is always a fighter. J Quiñonez until when he was on the field, he was doing a good job. C Quiñonez had a unfortunate injury. Quiroz and Mena coming out of the bench, both, looked great. All in all this win was a team effort including Omar Asad and his staff. Of course, we cannot forget the support of the fans that were present in Estadio Capwell. They are always present for them.

Emelec 1 vs Imbabura 1. Emelec could have won that game. Next is Barcelona. That is a must win game.

Omar Asad just ditched Emelec for San Lorenzo. The emelexistas are probably sh*tting bricks right now. This is the problem emelec has every year. They can't finishing their process of rebuilding their team because right when they're around 80% close to reaching their goal, the coach or their best players on the squad leave. And right on the night where they face us in whats considered probably the most important match left in the tournament besides the Clasico del Astillero.

Great victory of Emelec vs LDU Q in Quito 1-0 with 10 players. What a goal by M. Caicedo. Golazo!!! I really like the level of play of that kid. As for the "Clásico del Astillero" in Estadio Capwell, Emelec has to win that game. Omar Asad seems to be going to coach to Argentina at the end of the first part of the tournament. As long as he leaves Emelec in first place, that would be great. He is a great coach, a winner. I hope the best for him. It was a pleasure to have him as a coach for Emelec. We are going to miss him leave Emelec.

As for the Clásico del Astillero, Emelec could have done more in order to come out with the victory. Something was lacking in midfield and attack. Overall, it was a well fought game.
