Sorry for the delay. Here is your game thread. Slot does not believe in rotation, early kick off or not: Alisson Trent Konate Virgil Robertson Gravenberch MacAllister Salah Szobo Diaz Jota
Thought I read somewhere that Slot was less bothered by the 12.30PM kick off than Klopp. At the same time, it’s ridiculous playing in Europe midweek and then to be given the 12.30PM slot on Saturday.
#LFC v Palace: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Jones, Gakpo; Jota. Subs: Jaros, Gomez, Endo, Diaz, Szoboszlai, Nunez, Robertson, Quansah, Bradley.
So he has not chosen to rotate for the very winnable home game in the Champions League, but has made the changes for the scary away game in the league. Interesting.
early sign of season priorities by the looks of it. shame Fedo still out - Mo needs a rest. no natural sub for Mo, apart from Dom?
Liverpool have won eight of their previous nine Premier League visits to Selhurst Park, drawing the other. The last time Palace hosted a Liverpool side that were top of the table they were beaten 7-0 in December 2020. The Eagles won the most recent meeting 1-0 at Anfield in April. Crystal Palace are still seeking their first Premier League victory this season, having drawn three and lost three of their opening six games. The Eagles have equalled their second-worst start to a campaign over the past 12 seasons. Ian Holloway’s newly-promoted side also earned three points from six matches in 2013-14. Palace have won two of their four home fixtures in all competitions this term, drawing one and losing the other. Arne Slot is the first Liverpool manager to win eight of his opening nine games in charge. Liverpool have won all four of their away matches this season across all competitions.
Crystal Palace XI: Henderson, Muuoz, Lacroix, Guehi, Chalobah, Mitchell, Lerma, Wharton, Sarr, Eze, Nketiah. Subs: Turner, Ward, Clyne, Kporha, Hughes, Schlupp, Kamada, Umeh, Mateta. Eze and Wharton could prove a handful.
Arne Slot, speaking to TNT Sports about Liverpool's strong start to the season: "Brilliant would have been nine wins out of nine. This has been a good start, the key is we have not changed much. The players and staff have also bought in. "We do a lot of things well, but if we want to stay where we are and compete with tougher opponents we have to find another gear. "We have played a lot of games Cody [Gakpo] has done well and Curtis has done well when he has come in. It is a good moment for Curtis to start, he has done good when he has come in. "Dominik Szoboszlai is putting so much effort in his pressing you wonder if he can do this every three days. We will see how Cody and Curtis do today." On Ryan Gravenberch: "Before I started working with him I thought if he wants to play in the eight position he needs to be more involved in goals, but because of the pre-season we didn't have the players. We tried him in the six position and he is so comfortable on the ball - he surprised me. On Crystal Palace: "If they get half a chance the supporters will bring energy to he game . It is very important to not get the crowd going."
I haven't seen anything about Kellerher being injured so Jaros on the bench instead is a bit of a surprise. However the biggest surprise for me is Slot decision to continue with essentially the same starters yet again, Its quite a change in philosophy from Jurgen . I'm not against it right now seeing as Slot is getting a good tune from the team and the results definitely back him. I do wonder how long though can he ride these same guys as the others get rusty on the bench.
