In light of utter rubbish that went on in Madrid on Wednesday, what is the likelihood of abuse by English fans against Spanish players like Reyes and Campo or towards Spanish teams such coming to England for UEFA matches. Not trying to start anything, I'm just wondering if fans are going to say, hey, they did it to our players.
Hope it won't happend, but it wouldn't surprise me if it did. Too many people who have no concept of what it 'sinking to the other's level' not getting you anywhere means.
Nahh this sort of thing won't happen. An example is Tugay at Blackburn, he behaved like a muppet for Turkey but nobody ever bothered him or singled him out in the Premiership. It's not the Spanish players fault that they had some racists in the crowd and people at club level would rather cheer on their own players and focus their booing at known b*stards like Robbie Savage and Roy Keane.
Agreed. It would be a shame, but there are too many people that believe whats good for the goose is good for the gander. Also there are too many people that feel it's nothing more than a way to wind a guy up. The fans have every right to heckle about the situation as a whole. I just hope it doesn't turn racial.
Well, Tugay is essentially a joke defender so I guess teams are quite happy to see him play for Blackburn. Alpay, however, is a different story. He had his contract with Aston Villa cancelled by 'mutual consent' after his appalling taunting of Beckham after the latter missed a penalty in the EC qualifier in Turkey. Mind you, I suspect this was the straw that broke the camel's back for Villa after his conduct over the previous season.
Alan V I am surpirsed to hear an US soccer fan say what you did about too many people sinking to the other's level...... we certainly don't boo during the Mexican national anthem, throw bags of urine at the Guatamalan players, or chant racist remarks at the Panamanians. Certainly it's not that bad in the land of the bleachers.
