Does anybody have experience on forming a group or page on Facebook? I can spread the word about Crocketteers to at least a 100 people and hopefully the message will continue with their friends and so on. I don't want to make a crappy Crocketteer page on Facebook.
Hrmm I need to learn to use facebook. If i have time this week, I'll try and set one up. Are these 100 ppl all San Antonio folk? I would love a big boost in our numbers.
Excellent idea, but ... I think we should go ahead and pick the colors that we are gonna use (Looks like it'll be yellow/black) If we pick the colors, we can go ahead and put some pictures (designs) that we make in that way people begin to think of "San Antonio USL team" = Yellow/Black team I think is easier for people to get excited about something when they see a logo, jersey, etc.
not knowing much about facebook, I would want someone other than me to maintain it for the time being at least syndicating our content from our web site. Obviously we just need it as a mechanism to drive membership. So any takers? I know it will be generic until we get straight on everything from colors to logo etc..
I was thinking we should have a Crocketteers page as well. Lets wait on that till we get a little fancier/more professional with out image.
That's cool, I wish we had taking a picture of our get together to show in facebook. I was gonna write something about it but I wasn't sure of how many people actually went for our soccer get together.
It was a small group. I'd say 7 ppl (including my wife/bro) came for our together. The rest were just friends.
We have to be patient with our growth. Not everyone will go to get togethers and not everyone will have the same passion. Once the numbers increase, activity increases on facebook, our site, and this forum, it will be easier for people to get excited and contribute. Definitely once we get word a team is coming to SA, the participation will go up as well.
Even the Sounders had a small supporters group when they were in the USL compared to the Timber Army of the Portland Timbers. The Timber Army operated their group like a grassroots movement or a cult. They would always be inviting people to join them by word-of-mouth or leaflets.
I heard now that it is 4k. but still. Daniel, can you make a blog post on crocketteers.com saying we are on facebook now and provide a link and any info related.
Since Facebook is blocked at work can anyone send a message to the group that i just sent in the email blast:
Danilo, I am unsuccessful at clicking the Edit Group option on the facebook group page. It keeps redirecting me to my profile. I want to add this to the description: "Officially become a Crocketteer @ http://www.crocketteers.com/join-crocketteers/"
