So lets discuss (finally), the Crocketteers crest/logo/shield... From David (HailtotheKing) My response
btw, David made kickass jersey mockup in the jerseys thread. And its in the original Crocketter Shiner Bock Colors... Are colors still up for debate? brown, yellow, red (Shiner Bock) or black, gold, red? VS
This was a quick modification of something I'd done previously. I had this "Alamo City Battle" theme for an SA team when I did my mock up stuff before. Just substituted the Crocks and date real quick. I'll be happy to mock up other ideas/color schemes as they roll in from the rest of you guys. Also found another mock up, just changed to the gold/gold scheme.
I like the crest above... But the top of the crest has to be the Alamo, so it will carry the distinctive shape. HAS TO... So a juggling of the above elements in a little more Sounders-like shape and I think we've got it.
Yeah, I'll play with it this weekend and get some different versions done. Just found a mock up of another design and the elements fit it so I just saw what it would look like. I agree that the top outline of the Alamo should be the top outline of the crest. And I totally agree with the flag.
I'm liking the top alamo top crest idea too. The flag is used by every supporters group in texas. See the inferno, texian army, and Chantico's Army. I do want to put "Victory or Death" in there because William Travis said it. WE need to pay homage to Crockett somehow.
I like the updated banner hhmm ... trying to incorperate some different aspects of things with the crest. Haven't forgotten about Crockett. Also thought about a Bowie Knife too ... Just toying around, keep the ideas coming.
My fave so far: lets stick with the brown, yellow, red colorscheme... Maybe Crockett's sihoulette instead of the coonskin hat which is supposedly a disney made up thing. I'm thinking no on the red white and blue. I have to ask my brother which font he used for the Crocketteers Banner.
Yes you are getting closer... If you don't mind... Once we decide on the final look and elements, my brother (graphic designer for a local pro sports franchise) has agreed to take our final draft and polish it up and what not. Is that ok?
I would add this comment about your latest mockup.. Can you make the left and right walls of the Alamo curve more naturally with the bottom of the crest... so it looks more fluid.
Oh, absolutely have your brother clean it up. I just hope he's got a big enough rag, enough soap, and perhaps a shovel Seriously though, that's fine. I'd love to see the idea we end up actually done right I'll work with it this week and see if I can round it out some more and make the elements come together (like with the wall/side of shield). As always, if anyone has a suggestion, comment, or idea please post it !
You are doing a great job IMO. So we hit the Alamo element, cannot element... Our name... Our year... Crockett's image.... Maybe a soccer ball instead of the star above the cannon.... like the ALAMO is the GOAL... Reminds me of an idea our future team should do.. On whatever goal we defend we should hang a see through picture of the Alamo. So our goalkeeper is always defending the Alamo. Also... "Victory or Death!" we like or no? I noticed on the Shiner jersey you designed it says "Our Brewery, Our Pride".... Maybe we should do something similar "Our Team, Our Pride".
Just two cents worth from the "would be" enemy. I BEG YOU NOT TO PUT A BLOODY BALL IN ANY OF YOUR GEAR or your Shield, or if you absolutly must make it an old school ball and not a prominent feature in the design. It just screams of Minor league, 12 yr. old designer, IMHO of course. Here are some shields of some well known, and regarded, SGs from around the world. Notice the lack of a ball in all of them.
There's also plenty that do. If you want people seeing your logo to be able to figure our it has something to do with soccer, especially when your group is a movement to get a team not to supporter an existing team, I'd put one in.
I'm working on dressing up one of the designs, and it'll be easy enough to have one version with and one without a ball.
