He suffered a low back pain the same day of the Final (2nd leg), he didn't tell to anybody (not even to the coach) so it affected his performance (in fact, he was replaced in the 43rd minute, after the 3rd goal).

Modric staying with the Spurs at least till June

Luka Modric has denied rumors for an January exit and is keen on staying with Tottenham at least until the end of the season. The Croatian playmaker wants to help his current club in mounting a title challenge that has become more attainable after the two Manchester sides slipped up recently.

Chelsea and Manchester United are looking for creativity in midfield and are targeting Modric as their primary option. But it seems that Modric will not be packing this winter as he declared that his is staying put with "100 per cent certainty".

"I expect to stay with the Spurs until June, then we'll see" said Modric.

Tottenham are seven points behind Manchester United and Manchester City but they do have a game in hand. They have been playing some of the best football in England and if their recent for is any indication, they will surely be title contenders till the end.

Liverpool to make offer for Nikica Jelavic

Liverpool are again to bid for Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic in January. Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli was at Celtic Park on Wednesday night to watch the Croatian in action in a derby loss to Celtic and now a €15million offer is expected by the English side.

It is believed that Kenny Dalglish and Comolli are keen to bring in a proven goalscorer in January and Jelavic, who has hit 28 Scottish Premier League goals in 43 appearances, fits that bill.

Liverpool were credited with an interest in the former 26-year old Rapid Vienna ace in the summer and seem to be keen again whilst QPR, Everton, Sunderland, West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City are also in the queue.

    Jelavic delighted at Liverpool interest

Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic has admitted he is flattered by the reported interest from Premier League giants Liverpool and would be “fine” should the Scottish Champions decide to sell him.

The 26-year-old has been in stunning form for Rangers following his move from Rapid Vienna in 2010, scoring 33 goals in just 46 starts. This has lead to interest from the Premiership with the likes of Everton, Sunderland, West Brom and Liverpool all thought to be keeping tabs on the forward.

The Croatian international insists that while he is happy in Glasgow, he would understand should the club decide to cash in on him due to their financial difficulties. It’s believed Rangers are wanting around £10m for Jelavic and the striker admitted he’s flattered by the interest shown in him by Liverpool, calling them “a great name”.

Kranjcar: I want to stay at Spurs

[IMG]Niko Kranjcar insists he will not leave Tottenham this month and claims he is not worried about losing his place in Croatia's Euro 2012 squad despite his lack of game time this season.

Kranjcar, 27, made just his 10th appearance of the season as Tottenham's second-string beat League Two side Cheltenham 3-0 to secure their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

The midfielder is very unlikely to retain his place in the starting line-up on Wednesday, however, with manager Harry Redknapp certain to recall Croatia team-mate Luka Modric in his place for the crucial league game against Everton.

Regular football would boost his chances of guaranteeing his place in Croatia's Euro 2012 squad, but head coach Slaven Bilic has stuck by the former Portsmouth man even though he has been a bit-part player at Spurs over the last two seasons.

''I still believe my future is here,'' Kranjcar said. ''I know the next few months I want to stay, get in shape and hopefully have a good Euro 2012. The club have been great with me since I came. If I don't play here I still hope to be in good shape for the Euros.

''I would hope to prove myself in the friendlies before the tournament. That's why I'm staying. I hope to prove that I deserve my place in the national team. The manager (Bilic) has stuck by me all the way through.''

Kranjcar, who has missed two months of this season with a thigh injury, has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane in the transfer window, with Everton, Sunderland and Lazio all reportedly keen to secure the midfielder's signature.

Villas-Boas: Jelavic can be successful in England

Chelsea's Portugese manager Andre Villas-Boas, talked about the Croatian striker in an interview with the Telegraph. He said that he believes the £6 million-rated Croatia striker Nikica Jelavic, reportedly a transfer target for West Bromwich Albion and Everton, can be a success in England.

“Jelavic is a great goalscorer,” he said. “He scores goals quite easily and for fun.

“Any transfer to the Premier League is a difficult one but a player of his talent – and with the right motivation at the right club – can continue to produce.”

Dorin Goian: I owe my career to a miracle

Rangers defender Dorin Goian has revealed how only a miracle stopped him from quitting football.

The Romanian defender has been a standout for the Ibrox side since his move from Palermo.

But he came close to retiring altogether after suffering from chronic back problems a few years ago. And he’s told how only what he believes is divine intervention and the help of an 19th century Turkish saint allowed him to get back playing football.

Goian, now 31, has also played for Steaua Bucureşti, Bacău, Ceahlăul Piatra Neamţ, Gloria Buzău and Foresta II Fălticeni where he signed his first professional contract. He also has 42 caps for the Romanian National Team.

    Kranjcar on CSKA Moscow's radar

Niko Kranjcar is being offered an escape route from Spurs' substitutes bench by Russian giants CSKA Moscow. The midfielder is now a bit-part player at White Hart Lane, and has managed just two Premier League starts this season.

CSKA, who face Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League next month, want him to add some creativity to their side. They are interested on landing a loan deal for the player, to bolster their squad for the main European event.

The 27-year-old could be tempted to quit as he needs regular football to secure a spot in Croatia's Euro 2012 squad. Kranjcar has struggled to get match action at Spurs because of the stunning form of his countryman Luka Modric.

However he may find it hard to get manager Harry Redknapp to allow him to leave as the club continue their challenge for the Premier League. Redknapp has insisted he is not 'desperate' to sign any fresh faces, so he will need Kranjcar as the team needs depth for a very important second half of the season.

Dujmovic close to Real Zaragoza switch

Dynamo Moscow defensive midfielder, Tomislav Dujmovic, has revealed that he very close to making a move to La Liga club, Real Zaragoza. However, details are sketchy and the 30-year-old confirmed that he has not yet officially signed an agreement with the Spanish outfit.

“Officially, my transition has not yet taken place. I still need to sign the agreement. “I knew that I will move to another team during the winter, so I did some extra practice, working in the gym. I think I am almost eighty percent physically fit.” Dujmovic was quoted as saying.

Dujmovic had been vocal about his desire to leave the Moscow-based club, earlier this week. He revealed that he along with his agent were looking for a suitable team.

“Real Zaragoza are interested in me and I would like to consider the move. It now all depends upon the decision of the Dynamo board,” the Croatian midfielder said.

The former Amkar Perm player has one more year left in his contract with the Russian club but prefers to find a more suitable solution where he can get more playing time, ahead of EURO 2012. Dujmovic thanked the Spanish club on offering him a chance to play more regularly, thus making it easier for him to claim a spot in the Croatian National team.

    Corluka's agent denies Juve deal

Vedran Corluka has been a topic in transfer talks lately, regarding a switch to Italian giants Juventus, but his agent has dismissed the rumors.

"I am aware of the news about Corluka's possible move to Juventus, but they are just rumors around the player. Until now I can say that he will not go to Juve" Vuksanha told calciomercato.com.

The 25-year-old Croatian has made just three Premier League appearances this term for Tottenham, who are currently third in the table and seems out of favor at his club.

Corluka arrived in 2008 from Manchester City for €11M and, after a positive start to his career at White Hart Lane, has now fallen down the pecking order. This has led to speculation about the Croatia international's future with the Spurs.

Corluka has still managed to keep his place in his national side despite his lack of regular club football, but he's concerned that sitting on the bench might lead to his omission from the Euro 2012 finals.
