How it is "woke" to recognize students with a disability? As a former high school teacher, one of the things that severely frustrated me was that higher education often didn't recognize students with non-physical disabilities. And I knew a bunch of professors who argued along the lines of "well, that sucks for them." But what they are doing is excluding people who have actual issues, for example, taking high-stakes tests. Something that in most industries is not present. The problem, based on the article, is the effort to be inclusive seems to have gone too far. And, as with many things in higher education, favors those with wealth who have access to specialists who can designate students with a testing disability. And, lets be clear, this is, as stated, mostly about privilege. This is not a fault of the left. This is about students with parents who know how to game the system.
You have a tendency to post things you think are problems in this thread. If you thought it was different, then post it in a better thread. In this case, the Education thread. Otherwise, see kaz's comment.
Education thread, post 4844, by @Sounders78 (though I had seen the article a day or two prior to that). https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/the-education-thread.640830/page-194
We're living in a world where a typefont is "woke" because it's easier for some people to read. All a MAGA influencer needs to do is say "Leftists(*) like _____. Therefore, _____ is WOKE!" and millions of people get outraged about it being "woke" and they can't even explain what "woke" is or why it's bad. ...and they say the left are the "sheeple". (*)Of course, in MAGAWorld, everyone not kissing orange ass is a leftist.
Yep, it's how I keep up to date on stupid MAGA histrionics over nothing without actually having to read about it.
Poorly understanding a law and making harmful policy choices as a direct result of that poor understanding is bad, actually.
This could go in the tweet thread, but it's a change to laugh at the left with the good old splinter group, and I don't believe there is a let's laugh at the lefties thread. Original tweet is about creating dating apps for different types of communist and the reply is that it has already happened in the usual type of way. already happened lmao https://t.co/shT33cMTNu pic.twitter.com/UQ4wGR5y8O— zeronelite (@Zeronelite) January 1, 2026
Comrade, the workers must control the means of (re)production. If you can’t comprehend the ideological foundation of the struggle, you are a running dog lackey of the Falange.
Will Stancil is a Minnesota Democrat social media person who is always arguing against MAGA people on Twitter, he had a failed campaign for a Minnesota state house seat. He didn't like that some protesters were setting a garbage can on fire and they didn't like that he was filming them. ANTIFA PUNCHED WILL STANCIL pic.twitter.com/u55XO4SWYE— Aetius (@AetiusRF) February 2, 2026 Here is dude protesting against ICE himself. Will Stancil is so annoying that even when I agree with him, I often find myself looking for ways to argue with him. Thus it pains me deeply to watch videos of him like this and feel grudging respect. pic.twitter.com/nscDcuu04O pic.twitter.com/Tm1b1CdSOh— Mr. Tweety (@JoeyOtweets) January 25, 2026 Some people want protest for change, others just want to burn shit.
I feel bad for Will, he is on bluesky arguing against the woke mob on why burning shit is not a good way to protest. Will Stancil is bodying anarchist dipshits on the other app pic.twitter.com/VQEkjh5rV3— Jeremiah Johnson 🌐 (@JeremiahDJohns) February 3, 2026
You know you''re taking to a conservative whose schtick is pretending he's a POC and a liberal, right?
As a Democrat, this polling svcks. Is this the mentality that the party attracts. "After 250 years as a nation, do you believe the United States continues to be a force for good in the world? I'm starting to think we're probably doomed and its best to just wring whatever joy you can out of each day. The Democrats in this country are a shambles and the left would rather go to war with itself. We're just too diverse, we're trying to build a coalition out of America haters and every minority group and people who don't share our values, single issue voters, people who are not loyal in any way to Democrats and don't really understand the importance of unity when there are really only two teams, a red one and a blue one. You would think there would be a groundswell of outrage and unity after what we've all been witnessing and it would be the easiest thing in the world for the left to come together but if 2024 taught us anything, it's that the left in this country is a disparate mess. We're our own worst enemy.
Do you really believe that America led by Donald Trump, JD Vance and Pete Hegseth is a force for good in this world? If you do, then you probably aren't a Democrat to begin with.
I didn't read that at all, the led by those clown's part. I don't think we should be questioning people's loyalty to party and country when they tell you who they are. Its ignorant.
Maybe the whole concept that an economically & militarily powerful state should be a "force for good" is a bad idea. Maybe we'd be better off leaving the American exceptionalism and crusading behind us.
No doubt we're at a low ebb. But if we'd been able to rally behind Kamala, Hillary, Gore... we would be sitting in a vastly different country.
We'd be sitting in a more sanely and competently run country. Not sure how different we would be, fundamentally. Liberalism is better at making systems work than changing them fundamentally, IMHO. But at any rate, I was referring to the belief in American exceptionalism and the notion that we should be a "force" for anything in the world. I'd argue we need to understand that the "American Century" is well in the rear-view mirror.
So, the people that think Trump shits gold bricks and is the bestest ever president also have a rose colored view of the US's role in the world. Not really surprising.
Yes, a more sanely and competently run country. Kamala, for instance, told us she favors a two-state solution for Palestine and Israel, we wouldn't have gone to war in Iran with Bibi, we wouldn't have the ICE killings and rampant terrorizing of minority communities, and on and on. The US is still the dominant world superpower I expect, but Trump has forever tarnished the reputation and reliability as a force for good in the world, beyond measure.
