I had to attend some of them at my old employer and they just got rather half hearted or like what was the point. In one instance, one of the higher ups in my department refusing to say “master bedroom” and all I can’t help but think was, “what is that actually going to accomplish?” As for your joke, a lot of progressives lack a sense of humor. And I witnessed this in an argument about the song It Wasn’t Me by Shaggy. I wish I was making that up.
There are quite a few things like. I remember talking to a black mate of mine years ago and telling him how to set up a master and slave drive using the little jumpers on them. "Is it a bit strange me talking to you about something being a 'master and slave'?" and we both burst out laughing. I can see the point in most things but I think people should be treated like adults who are capable of recognising, in that case, the history of racism or class and how it impacts on how we are now. So, for instance, what's wrong with calling them 'Drive 1' and 'drive 2' or, in your case, the 'main bedroom'. So, IOW, you don't refuse to call it 'master bedroom'... you just point that, 1) there IS an alternative, (and one which, as it happens, is used over here more often than not), and, 2) It's important to recognise the etymology of where that phrase came from.

St Paul Minnesota passed rent control in 2004, Minneapolis did not. "The result: St. Paul’s apt development plummeted, and the city council backtracked." The St. Paul rent control saga will serve as a textbook case study. While both St. Paul and Minneapolis debated rent control, only St. Paul implemented it, setting up a real-time A/B test. I guess some on the woke left are not happy about Taylor Swift singing about wanting to have a bunch of babies with her fiance. https://www.melissafabello.com/blog/taylor-swift-racism https://everydayfeminism.com/speakers-bureau/melissa-a-fabello/
That excerpt reminded me why I stopped doing popular culture studies about 20 years ago. You have to smile and nod along to that sort of thing on a panel, and that gets old. The mistake, I think, is the assumption that people consume, or should consume, popular culture the way that grad students consume Marx's Das Kapital or something by Foucault. As a result, you get things like this, or things like 12 people wigging out over the Sydney Sweeney "Good Jeans" campaign, thereby increasing, exponentially, the attention paid to the Sydney Sweeney "Good Jeans" campaign. Now, if Trump here's this song and decides to give her the Presidential Medal of Freedom for the Advancement of White Domination... that's a different story.
This is what I’ve meant when I’ve said some Dems need to stop talking like a grad school course in elections and on political material. It’s exhausting. Also this. https://theonion.com/trump-voter-feels-betrayed-by-president-after-reading-8-1819596245/
One of things that makes me happier about winding down my career is the fact that I no longer have to write like this on my CV Melissa A. Fabello, PhD is a feminist writer and speaker who covers issues related to social justice, body image, and sexuality. Melissa is a licensed educator with over a decade of experience facilitating knowledge acquisition and healing through self-development. Her energetic presentations are created around participant-centered learning objectives, so her audiences leave not only with knowledge, but with tangible skill sets (and a laugh or two). Or as normal people would say if they didn't have to meet the performative standards of higher education: "Melissa is an experienced student-centered teacher who relies of participation and humor to connect with classes and audiences."
Here's my take - Republicans are not held accountable for anything they say, regardless of who says it. Democrats are held accountable for everything anyone on the left says, regardless of who says it. This Melissa Fabello person isn't even a tenured professor (she apparently occasionally teaches individual classes as an adjunct). So why should we care about what she says regarding Taylor Swift songs and, more importantly, why should Democrats be held accountable for it? I'll add that the person who first posted her comments regularly does exactly what I said above - holds Democrats accountable for everything anyone on the left says to the point that he actively spreads what is said by effectively unknown people to make Democrats look bad.
They are held to a weird ass backwards account, but it is at least an account; I don't think we can work from there though.
And the greater problem with this is that Swift has been a huge supporter of female artists who have been screwed over by their record label/manager, many times in sexist and misogynist ways. And the way media treats female artists. As I recall, she has spoke out specifically in favor of Megan Three Stallion and Cardi B. And she has said that she was in a fortunate position to be able to re-record her earlier albums, where as a lot of other artists don't have that luxury.
So, basically, in the face of fascism and tyranny, some on the left are prioritizing heteronormative punching. Great ... So very, very helpful.
Not criticism, More like lol I guess that there is a new left wing party in England. And things are not going that well. They are going to have a party Central committee. Lol. Apparently there will be around 20 members of a new Your Party Central Committee. We don’t know who those Committee members are. The MPs are now essentially ‘delegates’ of Your Party attending Parliament. There will be ‘spokespeople’ https://t.co/xIdeZWkkZy pic.twitter.com/y1kuI306kg— teresa smith (@treesey) November 30, 2025
Leftist coalitions were easier 100 years ago because women and gays and POCs were so unimportant in our politics (and Britain’s) that a leftist coalition was about class and economics. You just had to manage the differences between the urban and rural working classes, or between the AFL and the CIO. Having to incorporate leftists into a single coalition isn’t as easy anymore. I’d suggest it’s because leftists are a lot more individualistic than righties, so they’re more self centered and more likely to be “too pure” for a coalition that isn’t tailored for them. Like, for example, Muslims in Britain not wanting to be in a coalition that supports gay rights. They’d rather have nothing than sully themselves with an impurity like “thinking of others.” That’s Britain and this is America, but compare the left coalition here to the right coalition. Gun nuts don’t care about abortion and pro lifers don’t care about taxes and upward redistribution fans don’t care about race and white nationalists don’t care about guns. They all get what they want out of the coalition and don’t care about the rest.
Tim Waltz could be in trouble in Minnesota. The allegations. When fraud was first discovered, he attacked the whistleblowers. We will see how this goes. Tim Walz is 100% responsible for massive fraud in Minnesota. We let Tim Walz know of fraud early on, hoping for a partnership in stopping fraud but no, we got the opposite response. Tim Walz systematically retaliated against whistleblowers using monitoring, threats, repression,… https://t.co/cEtbnuKmgn— Minnesota Staff Fraud Reporting Commentary (@Minnesota_DHS) November 30, 2025 BTW the account is not an official department account, but an account made by a few hundred employees.
1. Kinda buried the lede there, huh champ? 2. It SAYS it’s an account made by a few hundred employees. Don’t mean it’s true. I checked out the account. It doesn’t read as if it’s the twitter account of a dissident group of a few hundred employees. But anyone on this thread can check it out for themselves with a few clicks and decide how plausible the story is.
Whether Walz or Waltz is responsible or not, the important thing is that it gave Donnie the green light to slam Somalis as grifting, puppy-eating murderers on Toof Sential.
