    What is best season(your definition)

As a orthodox winger, for the aesthetical side of the game, impact across a whole 90 minutes it is 2006/07 and not close

    Sir Alex ferguson
"He is only 22 and he has the same skill factor as Pele and Maradona"
    https://amp.theguardian.com/football/2007/apr/14/newsstory.sport

    John terry:
"I totally admire the player after the stick he got after the World Cup.
he has dealt with it so well and done all his talking on the pitch.
I could watch Manchester United just to watch him. He does things with the ball that you don't see anyone else in the world doing the at the minute. He is the best in the world at the moment. "When he is at his best I don't think there are many people who can stop him. When he is running at you like he does with his skills and tricks, you don't know which way he is going. "A lot of teams double up on him and he has often said he has two players to beat in every game.
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-448976/Terry-Ronaldos-best-world.html

    Gary lineker:
"Ronaldo is still young at 22, but I believe that if he continues on this trajectory of development, he could become one of the greatest players of all time
Watching him this season I've witnessed acts of manipulation of a football that verge on the physically impossible.
To put it bluntly, he has absolutely everything. His technique is remarkable, a truly sublime talent, but allied to that is an extraordinary ability to operate at high speed. He does not seem to slow up when he receives the ball and can perform his array of tricks at full sprint.

    So whats his secret?
obviously he is blessed with great natural gifts, but there is also his work-rate. On the pitch you can see it in the way he tracks back and gives the formation shape, and in the number of selfless runs he makes to create space for his team-mates.

I have lost count of the games where his individual brilliance has been the difference."
    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/f...becoming-one-of-the-greatest-of-all-time.html

For the beauty of the game
It is 2006/07 which was a GOAT level campaign for his end product and individualism

Ronaldo had at least 5 league campaigns better than 13/14 so it cannot be that season
For the champions league it was his best by far(record all time top goals and most assists for that season-6 tied with arjen robben)

His best league campaign would be
2011/12(his highest rated in Dbs calcio and one of the highest in la liga history)

If we say 10/10 is for a perfect club season
    As messi 10/11 or 14/15
    Or cruyff 71/72

2011/12=9.75/10(faliure in CL SF penalty shoot out so no CL trophy)

    2007/08=9.5/10
(looks like perfect 10/10 season on first glance but had a touch of luck with terry slip
His all round wasnt as good as the season before and even some madrid seasons later)

    2013/14=9/10
Inconsistent league campaign due to niggling knee injuries
Record all time haul in CL and Gpg ratio that will never be broken

    2006/07 9.25/10
Best season from a aesthetical perspective(career most assists too)
Downside is his record in big games bar roma was not good

    2010/11:9.5/10
Same level as 07/08 except he wasnt saved in the CL SF vs barcelona(no scholes at madrid)

I feel the same way. I remember thinking 'have football ever had 2 players as good as Messi and Ronaldo, playing at the same time?'

In that period, I watched at least 20 games of each of them each season (about 50/50 between La Liga and UCL) and I was blown away by what I was watching. I don't remember the context very well anymore, but I remember very well feeling amazed by what they did.

Ironically, I rated Ronaldo right up there with Messi when he wasn't winning too many things, and only started to rate Messi more highly once Ronaldo actually became more successful, but that's actually not surprising if one actually agrees with me that Ronaldo of the early Madrid years was a peak that no human could possibly hope to ever sustain.

This is 2010/11 one of his highest rated la liga campaigns however the title is wrong (2009/10 was statistically his best dribbling campaign at Real Madrid)
    It's probably just clickbait

That's why I think, the best and the more involved Cristiano Ronaldo in the Madrids time, then he overall play declined a little bit in 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 (he had fewer passes, fewer touches per game, less attempted dribbles etc)

    Just Ronaldo's 09/10, 10/11 and 11/12 season.

    33 Goals (29 Non-PK Goals) + 12 Assists 2915 Minutes 35 Matches - 1 Non-PK Goal or assist each 71 minutes
Team Goals: 95 Ronaldo Involvement: 47,4% w/o includind PKs: 43.2%

    53 Goals (44 Non-PK Goals) + 18 Assists 4618 Minutes 54 Matches - 1 Non-PK Goal or assist each 74,5 minutes
Team Goals: 141 Ronaldo Involvement: 50,4% w/o includind PKs: 44%

    60 Goals (46 Non-PK Goals) + 15 Assists 4902 Minutes 55 Matches - 1 Non-PK Goal or assist each 80,5 minutes
Team Goals: 160 Ronaldo Involvement: 46,9% w/o includind PKs: 38,1%

Whoscored average as starter in these three seasons at Madrid (CL and La Liga) = 8.40 (8.62 in 09/10)

119 Non-PK Goals + 45 Assists in 144 Matches in these three seasons.

    with Portugal
    13 Goals (12 Non-PK Goals) + 9 Assists 2410 minutes 30 Matches (best game maybe vs Holland in 2012?)

Including Madrid and Portugal 159 Goals (131 Non-PK Goals) and 54 Assists in 174 Matches.

IMO Ronaldo's 11-12 is the best option because he finally won an important title and achieved good performances against Barcelona, also the most iconic. But note that Real Madrid 2011-2012 was a much better and solid team than that of 2009 and 2010 reaching the maturation of that project.

Not because Cristiano de 11/12 was necessarily better than 2009/2010 for example, where he scored several solo goals of the most incredible types and seemed even more involved in the game in general, in fact in 2011/2012 I've impression that he was looking somewhat slower than in his first two seasons at Madrid, maybe that's why he had less sucess in his dribbles.

2009/2010 Ronaldo (a mix between the efficiency of the 07/08 Ronaldo and the overall play of 06/07) the most United version of Madrid's time.

Simply (2009-)2010- (2011-)2012 Ronaldo is one of the best player of all time.

I agree with your points. Personally I like the Cr7 of 11/12 best of his Madrid years just because he was no bs in his game. No tricks, no wasting time, just kicking the ball past defenders and going straight to goal with his pace. A true killers mentality.
All business no play. Scoring 60 goals and taking the quickest route to goal. Simply amazing. All in all, I like his 11/12 the best but he has had other spectacular seasons

2008-2012 Cristiano Ronaldo was GOAT tier indeed. The peak of his career.

His goalscoring was legendary while he still had speed and flair on the ball.

Yep, in fact you have some reason I think, Ronaldo was probably already at the 10-12 level in his last two seasons at United, even though he underperformed by injuries and even for not being focused all the season (in the league) in his last season at MU, but his class in 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 was indeed of the TOP1-2 in that period, probably even better than Messi.

So yes probably Ronaldo 2009-2010 version is indeed the same Ronaldo of the last two seasons at MU, just playing in a more unbalanced league and probably being bit more solidary as well. The level is probably the same. The 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 version of Ronaldo is just a more fixed, posicioned and not so flair version, but still being part of Ronaldo's peak.

2006-2007 was sensational also, but I don't think he was a finished (or almost was a finished) product like in 07/08.. 2006-2007 was his breakthrough season and his first season as World Class, but not part of his true peak (and form) imo (just like post 2012 Ronaldo isn't)...

Make no mistake breakthrough or not 2006/07 remains one of his career best seasons
The first half of 2008/09 was terrible and on form he definitely wasn't at the level of 2nd best player (not even close to Messi or xavi)
It took him till March/April 2009 to regain that form when he went to put on the greatest Champions league KO stage performance of all time

His second place ballon dor ranking in 2009 was due to how he finished 2008/09 and how he started 2009/10
He was the highest rated la liga player and champions league player in the first half of 2009/10(according to whoscored)

2006/07 and 2007/08 are his best Manchester United seasons by near consensus
There isnt too much to split between the 2 except ronaldo was better in the 2007/08 CL groupstage than in 06/07
And he played a great final in 08 whereas he never made it past the 2006/07 SF

the level cronaldo reached between November 2006-April 2007 is unreachable for any winger/Midfielder
    19 goals+19 assists+4 pre assists in 37 games
49% direct involvement out of 86 team goals
    https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cri...06&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=

If this isn't unplayable I don't know what is

Sir Bobby Charlton, a Manchester United director and ideally qualified to discuss the quality of footballers to have played for the club over the past half-century, described the 22-year-old as possessing abilities he has not seen before, no mean praise from a former player who enjoyed his best years alongside the likes of George Best and Denis Law.

"Ronaldo has just been fantastic," said Charlton. "It takes great players to grab the bull by the horns and lift people and he has been doing that recently. He does things I have never seen anybody else do....I think he has been a better player than even people here realise."

You miss the point you are comparing form with class and I'm not sure if Cristiano Ronaldo was better in 06-07 compared with 08-09 in BIG games (against the TOP10-20 teams at the moment).
2007-2008 Ronaldo is the best United version of all forms.

But despite you attemped to impressed me I consider 2013-2014 better than 2006-2007 for example and I didn't include 2013-2014 as his peak.

In 2013-2014 Cristiano had 51 Goals (41 Non-PK Goals) and 17 Assists in 47 Matches (4030 minutes). One Non-PK Goal or Assist each 69,5 Minutes.
Whoscored average (UCL and La Liga): 8.35/8.39 (on par with 2010-2011/2011-2012)

    Madrid Team Goals: 127
    Ronaldo Direct Involvement: 53,5% w/o PKs: 45,7%

That's more involvement and impact than the Ronaldo of the first three season at Madrid, still had some flair and beautiful solo goals like in the first three seasons, is one of his best years in his NT (iconic performance vs Sweden in 2013) and also he in his peak in terms of decision making.

And I didn't include this season as Ronaldo's peak.

    If something I think Ronaldo's TOP5 seasons are 07/08, 09/10, 10/11, 11/12 and 13/14.

CR7 06/07 have the same flair and athleticism of 07/08, 08/09 and 09/10 and the overall team play of 09/10 but his finishing and instinct are really missing compared with his truly peak years.

His teamplay in 06/07 was above and beyond anything he did in career

Between Nov 2006-April 2007 he scored
    19 goals+19 assists+4 assists in 37 games
49% involvement out of 86 team goals as a 21 year old winger

Do you realise how ridiculous that is?
For a midfielder to average 1 goal involvement per match over 37 matches
his tally includes 4 penalties and he earned every single pen he took

If you want to talk about big games in 06/07 that's a fair point
He played against arsenal and never scored or assisted
Played against chelsea and never scored or assisted(but was still official MOTM)
Played against Liverpool and assisted the winner

In 07/08 he scored vs arsenal, chelsea and Liverpool(so he was more reliable against big teams-I agree)

I did not say 06/07 was perfect because if it was he would've outplayed kaka in the CL SF (make no mistake though that over the course of the entire season ronaldo was demonstrably superior)
And if it was perfect (10/10)he would've been much better in big games

However Compared to seasons by prime ribery, prime figo, neymar 17/18,prime robben etc it is a step above and at the same level as Ronaldinho 05/06 (matter of fact so was CR in 09/10)
Both seasons are below 2011/12 his absolute peak (the culmination of his physical and technical qualities, decision making and end product against big teams)

To be better than these players he has to deliver in the BIG Games, like he did 2007-2008 and in other years my friend and you said he didn't... if you want we can compare with Neymar or Ronaldinho or Figo or Ribery or Robben or whatever other winger Playmaker (even tho he played many time as Inside Forward too) you want OK but it was to be a organized debate.

That's the TOP16 Clubs of the time in Europe (2006/2007) according ClubElo methodology just before the season start:
    http://clubelo.com/2006-07-01/All

He played against 2x against Milan (ranked as 2º), 2x against Chelsea (ranked as 3º), 2x against Arsenal (ranked as 5º) and 1x against Liverpool (ranked as 10º)...
so are 7 matches of Ronaldo against the TOP15 clubs in Europe with 1 Goal and 1 Assist.

These are the some of those matches:

Kaka, for example, played 2x against Bayern (ranked as 12º), 2x against United (ranked as 9º), 1x against Liverpool (ranked as 10º) and 2x against Inter (ranked as 13º)... so are 7 Matches of Kaka against the TOP15 clubs in Europe with 5 Goals, 3 Assists... so superior numbers plus he outplayed Cristiano in the head-to-head confront.

Btw, CR7 06-07 is not Cristiano at his peak like I said before. It is below 12-13/13-14 and 14-15 seasons at Madrid imo.

a better comparison is 06-07 CR7 with 18-19 Hazard... Hazard played 15 matches against the TOP16 this year, 3 Goals and 3 Assists. Both were the creative hub of their teams.

2007-08 and 2006-07 in terms of being more complete and entertainment. I liked his 2009-10 and 2011-12 seasons as well with RM.
Aesthetically speaking it was probably his best season with Utd only edged by his 2007-08 season.
2007-08 season was probably Ronaldo’s best season overall
2011-12 season was the best version of RM CR7 and I believe Ronnie’s dribbling prime ended after 2009-10 season

What's weird to me is it actually feels like Ronaldo of early Madrid years was actually faster than Ronaldo of late MU career. It felt like at Madrid, he really focused on adding pace and power to his game, at the cost of agility. I think he lost a bit of that agility and balance that made him very good in smaller space like in 06/07, but the added pace and power helped him establish himself as the single best counter-attacking or long-distance player in the world, which fitted the Mourinho era style very well. Coupled with his improved movement and timing, I think it also helped him become a much bigger aerial threat.

Ronaldo was a very dominant statistical player, because he was freakishly injury retardant throughout his career, he was generally super fit all season long, but as the big games demonstrate, Ronaldo 2006/07 could not replicate his stats against the top tier opponents; conversely, Ronaldinho 2005/06 was not only replicating his stats against the top tier opponents, Ronaldinho 2005/06 was actually better against the top tier opponents. Statistics aren't everything...

Furthermore, I don't think Ronaldo 2006/07 was a step above Luis Figo 1999/00, in fact, if anything I'd argue that Figo was a better and more experienced player against the top tier teams and also against the mid tier teams. You can discredit Figo as a "generational great" all you want, but Figo 1999/00 was arguably GOAT tier on several fronts e.g. dribbling, ball retention, playmaking, influence, and consistency. Moreover, even if Figo wasn't at the same GOAT tier level as Platini in terms of passing, Figo 1999/00 was nonetheless definitely a better and a more complete passer than Ronaldo at any stage of his career.

Ronaldo 2011/12 might've been the culmination of his physical and technical qualities, decision making, end product against big teams, and so on... but then why did he failed to win the Champions League 2011/12? Why did Real Madrid win La Liga by a significant point difference of 8 points even though Ronaldo's impact against the top 6 clubs in the league was inferior to Messi's own impact against said top 6 clubs? Why did Real Madrid failed to actually do well against the only 2 top tier clubs that it faced in the 2011/12 season?

I mean, honestly, Ronaldo 2011/12 against the top tier clubs is really nothing special neither in terms of his statistical impact nor in terms of his overall impact.

    Champions League Group Stage:

Dinamo Zagreb / not top tier.

    Ajax / not top tier.

Olympique Lyon / not top tier.

    Champions League Knock Out Stage:

CSKA Moskva / no. 13 best club in the world according to ClubElo / also I'm gonna go ahead and say that this is not a top tier opponent to get in the Round of 16 of the most prestigious club competition.

APOEL Nikosia / not top tier.

Bayern Munchen / no. 5 best club in the world according to ClubElo / 1-2 defeat for Ronaldo in the first leg / 2-1 win for Ronaldo in the second leg / again nothing special overall, not to mention that Ronaldo failed to score his penalty kick in the penalty shootout, which proved to be very costly given that it was Real Madrid's first penalty kick - arguably or traditionally the most important penalty kick - that Ronaldo failed to convert, and Real Madrid is eliminated by the only top tier club that they faced in the whole of the Champions League that season.

    La Liga:

Real Madrid v Barcelona / 1-3 defeat in the first game / 2-1 win in the second game / only 1 goal by Ronaldo after 180 minutes, and not only is there nothing special about this statistic but also, Benzema also scored 1 goal after 180 minutes, well except for the fact that Benzema received less service than Ronaldo / this is extremely average in terms of the La Liga Clasico, and not only that, but Barca actually has a better differential having scored more goals and conceded less goals.

Real Madrid v Valencia / 3-2 win in the first game / 0-0 draw in the second game / again nothing special, Ronaldo scored one open play goal, same as Benzema, in the 3-2 win; and a 0-0 draw in the second game which was the home game.

    Copa del Rey:

Real Madrid v Barcelona / 1-2 defeat in the first leg / 2-2 draw in the second leg / Real Madrid lost their home game, Real Madrid scored less goals at the same time that it conceded more goals, and as such Real Madrid was eliminated in the Quarter Finals, and again there is no telling statistical indication of Ronaldo playing at a higher level than he did the previous seasons / as was also the case in the La Liga Clasico, Barcelona actually has a better differential having scored more goals and conceded less goals.

Real Madrid actually - if you look at it as a two legged affair - failed to win a single 'elimination' against the only top tier opponents that they faced in the 2011/12 season... Barcelona eliminated Real Madrid with an aggregate score of 4-3 in terms of the La Liga Clasico; Barcelona again eliminated Real Madrid with an identical aggregate score of 4-3 in terms of the Copa del Rey; Bayern Munich eliminated Real Madrid via the penalty kick shootout luck-fest in terms of the Champions League, and Ronaldo failed to score what was expected to be Real Madrid's first penalty kick; not the first nor the last time that Ronaldo fails to score a crucial penalty kick... Ronaldo also failed to score his penalty kick at the Champions League Final 2008, and again at the Champions League Semi Finals 2008, etc.

Top 6 clubs in La Liga:

    Messi 2011/12

16 open play goal involvement / 17 goal involvement not counting penalty kicks / 12 open play goals + 4 assists + 1 penalty kick + 1 free kicks / Real Madrid won La Liga even though Messi was better than Ronaldo was against the top 6 sides.

    Suarez 2015/16

    15 open play goal involvement / 10 open play goals + 5 assists + 1 penalty kicks / 1 assists for Messi.

    Messi 2016/17

12 open play goal involvement / 13 goal involvement not counting penalty kicks / 10 open play goals + 2 assists + 1 penalty kicks + 1 free kicks / 1 assists for Suarez / Real Madrid won La Liga even though Messi was far better compared to Ronaldo who actually delivered his worst La Liga campaign.

    Messi 2014/15

12 open play goal involvement / 9 open play goals + 3 assists / 2 assists for Suarez.

    Ronaldo 2010/11

12 open play goal involvement / 16 goal involvement not counting penalty kicks / 11 open play goals + 1 assists + 4 free kicks + 2 penalty kicks.

    Ronaldo 2011/12

12 open play goal involvement / 13 goal involvement not counting penalty kicks / 8 open play goals + 4 assists + 1 free kicks + 4 penalty kicks.

    Messi 2012/13

11 open play goal involvement / 12 goal involvement not counting penalty kicks / 8 open play goals + 3 assists + 1 penalty kicks + 1 free kicks.

    Benzema 2013/14

11 open play goal involvement / 7 open play goals + 4 assists / 1 assists for Ronaldo / Ronaldo assisted none of Benzema's goals.

    Higuain 2009/10

11 open play goal involvement / 9 open play goals + 2 assist / Ronaldo assisted none of Higuain's goals.

    Suarez 2013/14

10 open play goal involvement / 11 goal involvement not counting penalty kicks / 4 open play goals + 6 assists + 1 free kicks.

    Ronaldo 2012/13

10 open play goal involvement / 12 goal involvement not counting penalty kicks / 6 open play goals + 4 assists + 2 free kicks / 1 assists for Benzema.

In terms of La Liga performances against the top 6 sides in the league... Ronaldo 2010/11 was arguably better than Ronaldo 2011/12, registered the same exact open play goal involvement but with the added bonus of scoring more free kicks, and also with the added bonus of Barcelona 2010/11 being a better team than Barcelona 2011/12.

The notion that Ronaldo 2011/12 was somehow the absolute peak of his, seems to be largely based on skills he did almost exclusively against vastly inferior opponents, because not a single one of his displays against the top tier opponents justifies the premise that 2011/12 was GOAT tier level even if CR7 absolutely failed to elevate Real Madrid when the going got tough against equal tier opponents.

Honestly, the 2011/12 season appears to indicate what I've long said about Ronaldo; devastating stat-padder against the inferior opponents, but his inflated statistical value does repeatedly - for the entirety of his career - notably deflates against the top tier sides, which is probably why Benzema does better in the La Liga Clasico.

Moreover, Ronaldo's statistics against the top 6 La Liga sides became relatively unimpressive as early as in season 2013/14, and it only got worse from there, after 2014 Ronaldo became rather shockingly average in terms of his statistics against the top 6 sides in La Liga; Suarez was better than him in said regard - at least in terms of pure statistical impact - in every single season after 2014/15.

    Suarez 2015/16

    15 open play goal involvement / 10 open play goals + 5 assists + 1 penalty kicks / 1 assists for Messi.

    Suarez 2013/14

10 open play goal involvement / 11 goal involvement not counting penalty kicks / 4 open play goals + 6 assists + 1 free kicks.

    Suarez 2017/18

10 open play goal involvement / 7 open play goals + 3 assists / 2 assists for Messi.

    Salah 2017/18

9 open play goal involvement / 7 open play goals + 2 assists.

    Messi 2017/18

8 open play goal involvement / 9 goal involvement not counting penalty kicks / 5 open play goals + 3 assists + 1 penalty kicks + 1 free kicks / 1 assists for Suarez.

    Robin van Persie 2011/12

8 open play goal involvement / 7 open play goals + 1 assists.

    Benzema 2012/13

8 open play goal involvement / 4 open play goals + 4 assists / 2 assists for Ronaldo.

    Rooney 2007/08

8 open play goal involvement / 5 open play goals + 3 assists.

    Higuain 2015/16

8 open play goal involvement / 7 open play goals + 1 assists.

    Ronaldo 2015/16

8 open play goal involvement / 9 goal involvement not counting penalty kicks / 7 open play goals + 1 assists + 1 free kicks / Ronaldo played 262 minutes more than Benzema, and yet Benzema's open play goal involvement is just one goal short of Ronaldo's mark; not to mention the fact that Benzema also assisted one of Ronaldo's open play goals, compared to Ronaldo who did not assisted any of Benzema's open play goals, and Ronaldo's open play goal involvement was only one assisted goal better than Benzema's...

    Ronaldo 2009/10

7 open play goal involvement / 8 goal involvement not counting penalty kicks / 7 open play goals + 1 free kicks.

    Ronaldo 2007/08

    7 open play goal involvement / 4 open play goals + 3 assists + 2 penalty kicks / 2 assists for Rooney.

    Berbatov 2007/08

7 open play goal involvement / 4 open play goals + 3 assists.

    Messi 2013/14

7 open play goal involvement / 8 goal involvement not counting penalty kicks / 4 open play goals + 3 assists + 2 penalty kicks + 1 free kicks / Barcelona failed to score a single goal in 2 of the games that Messi missed due to injury; a 0-0 draw vs. Atletico Madrid and a 0-1 defeat vs. Athletic Bilbao, which is particularly costly because La Liga was decided by 1 point on the final game of the season.

    Benzema 2015/16

7 open play goals / 5 open play goals + 2 assists / 1 assists for Ronaldo / Benzema played 262 minutes less than Ronaldo.

    Ronaldo 2013/14

7 open play goal involvement / 8 goal involvement not counting penalty kicks / 5 open play goals + 2 assists + 2 penalty kicks + 1 free kicks.

    Suarez 2014/15

7 open play goal involvement / 3 open play goals + 4 assists / 1 assists for Messi.

    Robin van Persie 2012/13

    7 open play goal involvement / 4 open play goals + 3 assists + 1 penalty kicks + 1 free kicks.

    Forlan 2009/10

    7 open play goal involvement / 5 open play goals + 2 assists + 3 penalty kicks.

    Suarez 2018/19

    7 open play goal involvement / 5 open play goals + 2 assists + 2 penalty kicks / 2 assists for Messi.

    Suarez 2012/13

6 open play goal involvement / 7 goal involvement not counting penalty kicks / 5 open play goals + 1 assists + 1 free kicks.

    Xavi 2009/10

6 open play goal involvement / 1 open play goals + 5 assists.

    Dybala 2017/18

6 open play goal involvement / 2 open play goals + 4 assists / 3 assists for Higuain.

    Salah 2016/17

6 open play goal involvement / 1 open play goals + 5 assists / 3 assists for Dzeko.

    Dzeko 2016/17

6 open play goal involvement / 5 open play goals + 1 assists.

    Dzeko 2018/19

6 open play goal involvement / 3 open play goals + 3 assists.

    Suarez 2016/17

6 open play goal involvement / 3 open play goals + 3 assists / 2 assists for Messi.

    Torres 2008/09

5 open play goal involvement / 5 open play goals.

    Zlatan 2009/10

5 open play goal involvement / 3 open play goals + 2 assists / 1 assist for Messi.

    Messi 2015/16

5 open play goal involvement / 6 goal involvement not counting penalty kicks / 2 open play goals + 3 assists + 1 free kicks + 1 penalty kicks / 2 assists for Suarez.

    Ronaldo 2014/15

5 open play goal involvement / 5 open play goals + 4 penalty kicks / Ronaldo missed 1 penalty kick in a 2-2 draw, costing his team 2 points, which in hindsight proved costly given that this La Liga was decided by 2 points / 2 of 5 open play goals by Ronaldo were assisted by Benzema.

    Ronaldo 2018/19

5 open play goal involvement / 3 open play goals + 2 assists.

    Ronaldo 2016/17

5 open play goal involvement / 6 goal involvement not counting penalty kicks / 4 open play goals + 1 assists + 2 penalty kicks + 1 free kicks.

    Xavi 2010/11

4 open play goal involvement / 2 open play goals + 2 assists.

    Xavi 2011/12

4 open play goal involvement / 2 open play goals + 2 assists.

    Berbatov 2008/09

4 open play goal involvement / 1 open play goals + 3 assists.

    Dzeko 2017/18

4 open play goal involvement / 4 open play goals.

    Higuain 2016/17

4 open play goal involvement / 3 open play goals + 1 assists.

    Higuain 2017/18

4 open play goal involvement / 4 open play goals.

    Ronaldo 2017/18

4 open play goal involvement / 4 open play goals + 2 penalty kicks.

    Ronaldo 2006/07

    3 open play goal involvement / 1 open play goals + 2 assists + 1 penalty kicks.

    Rooney 2006/07

3 open play goal involvement / 2 open play goals + 1 assists.

    Ronaldo 2008/09

Once again you provide no examples
    Not even 1
    Just the same recycled rhetoric
(If your response is its obvious figo was a better passer im not interested
    I require examples)

There is no pass or assist figo could execute that ronaldo did not do
If You require examples, performances of any type of pass than just ask

As a friendly word of advice you shouldnt speak with authority regarding things you're clueless about

For example you swore that ronaldo was extremely unimpressive vs AC Milan in both legs during 2009/10
You were so adamant about this because you had apparently "watched it"

When I informed you c.ronaldo did not even play one second vs milan
He was on the operating table for an ankle injury in fact
You haven't responded but expect me to respond to more of the same
    Moving on...

This is a joke(or isnt it)
You will not find a single example of a forward in the history of European club football ,playing for a title winning team ,who was involved in a higher proportion of goals vs top 6 periodic league teams than cristiano Ronaldo 2011/12
I defy you to show me one(your reputation is on the line so you better start scouring for examples)

Goals+assists vs periodic top 6 league teams

    Cristiano ronaldo 2011/12(forward)
13 goals+4 assists out of 23 team goals
    Percentage involvement:74%

    Lionel messi 2011/12(forward)
19 goals+2 assists out of 33 team goals
    Percentage involvement:64%

    Lionel messi 2012/13(striker)
11 goals+2 assists out of 25 team goals
    Percentage involvement::52%

    Luis suarez 2015/16(striker)
11 goals+6 assists out of 28 team goals
    Percentage involvement:61%

    Romario 1993/94(striker)
    6 goals+ 2 assist out of 18 team goals
    Percentage involvement:44%

    Ronaldo 1996/97(striker)
7 goals+0 assists out of 21 team goals
    Percentage involvement:33%

You can look for seasons of Henry, van basten, Eusebio (tropiero has his penalty stats so may have his assists too) and whoever else
Nobody said or denied ronaldo scored a tonne of goals in blowouts.
At the same time however why was ronaldo practically real Madrid's only outlet against top 6 teams in LaLiga
How is a guy who is essentially a unprecedented stat padder, worse scorer than van Persie, Berbatov...alonso in big games able to be directly involved in 74% of the goals real Madrid scored against big teams in la liga 2011/12

Btw what is a big game(your definition changes every week depending on who you're arguing for or against)
We need a framework that we don't venture out of
I've borrowed one here that seems reasonable and unbiased
    A "big game" is
games against teams competing for league title honours or in top 3/4, Champions League games from quarter finals onwards, domestic cup games from semi finals onwards, big, traditional derby rivals and all World Cup and European Championships finals matches

In 2007/08 he scored in 45% of big matches
In 2010/11 he scored in 53% of big matches
In 2011/12 he scored in 64% of big matches
    http://www.just-football.com/2012/0...-do-it-in-the-big-games-goals-analysis-stats/

It's not a myth or an illusion and if your remove the blinkers youd see it too but unfortunately you are just too consumed with hatred for the guy that you can never give him credit for practically anything.

For example you begin your post by saying

"Ronaldo was very statistically dominant because he was freakishly injury free"

It could never be because he was a all time talented player (according to Charlton, according to pele, according to Eusebio, according to cruyff, according to Denis Law,according to SAF,according to alfredo di stefano ,according to the best defenders of his era, according to his peers, according to some of the most well respected sports journalists
The list is extensive and these aren't twitter experts but some of the greatest minds in football history

There is no way you could ever even begin to explore the possibility that his stats were so mind blowing in 06/07 because he was a phenomenon level performer

crediting his statistical superiority to his talent will completely erode 99.9999% of your arguments and all that would be left is a few eulogies on your sweethearts Riquelme and Valderrama

Im not an objective poster and I never claimed to be one
My views are shaped by my experiences, what I've watched and heard and I believe the final word especially in these types of debates should always be referred back to the experts(those who have decades of experience in the game-not rookies)

You may have delusions of grandeur but at the end of the day you are just a fan with a very skewed understanding of the beautiful game

You will continue to spam no doubt and that is completely within your remit
Im not complaining at all unless I see a disproportionate number of lies to truths

    I just ask you though
If ronaldo was such a statistical fraud
If it was such a huge injustice and travesty that he is compared to the greats (you attribute his "greatness"to his consistency and not talent)
If ronaldo was such a ego maniac, twisted, evil, demented loser than why is it only you and some other anonymous guys on the dark corners of the web to point this out

Are the true greats of this sport completely incapable of seeing him for the statistical fraud you allege him to be?
Are you once again the only objective analyst?
Does any of your misconstrued data matter in the real world?

You don't have to answer any of this but just think
We've been at this for 3 or so years and this is going absolutely nowhere

I Admire you enthusiasm but your 1 man crusade against ronaldo won't garner more attention than a few reps on a sub thread on big soccer
    That's it

Your criterion for what is and isn't a big team/match is Elo rankings?

Okay explain to me how valencia 2011/12 was a better team than atletico Madrid
Valencia finished 3rd in la liga and won 0 trophies
Atletico Madrid finished 5th in la liga and won the UEFA cup

What's so special about 2011/12 ath Madrid?
Ronatldo had the best performance of his Madrid career against this team

    Same thing again with 2009/10
Why is seville a big team while mallorca isn't?
Seville finished in 4th place la liga on 63 points
Mallorca finished in 5th place la liga on 62 points
Mallorca also had the 3rd best defensive record in la liga that season (behind only Barcelona and real madrid)

Ronaldo put on the best performance of his entire 2009/10 club season against this team.
Overturning a 1-0 deficit to score a hat trick putting real Madrid within 1 point of Barcelona in the la liga title race with only 2 games left
    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/f...ck-for-Real-Madrid-against-Real-Mallorca.html
This was definitely a big match performance within the context of the title race that season

ClubElo rankings can be used as a guideline but are not perfect.

This(above) )encapsulates why you are a thoroughly disingenuous character
Moving the goal posts constantly thinking nobody would realise

Haven't you previously argued ronaldos goals after round 35 in la liga 16/17 are meaningless and redundant because the title was effectively won?

after round 35(ironic?) The title race in la liga 2011/12 was done and dusted.
Ronaldo scored the winner in the camp nou and Madrid had a 12 point advantage over Barcelona with
3 games left (numerically impossible to overturn)

In the remaining 3 meaningless league fixtures messi went on a 1 man stat padding mission
    Scoring 9 goals+2 assists in 3 games
Including a hat trick against 4th place malaga

DO you think everyone is stupid and doesn't verify what you say?

If you retire of his point his PK (count about 0.5 imo) then his average would be 7.76 in 2009/2010, 7.57 in 2010/2011, 7.63 in 2011/2012, 8 in 2012/2013, 7.98 in 2013/2014 and 7.69 in 2014/2015, the difference for the Madrid's overall rating would be: 0.88, 0.81, 0.81, 0.95, 0.95 and 0.64. Being 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 theorically his best seasons against the TOP16.

But, when he didn't scored goals, the difference between his rating and Real Madrid rating was: 0.49, 0.53, 0.43, 0, 0.09 and 0.15
So even when he did not score goals he still had an average better than his team at an average of 0.50 in his first three seasons,
this could be explained by imo his bigger participation in the game, with more dribles, touches and key passes for example.

Brute numbers against the TOP16 Clubs of Europe according ClubElo in the 09/10 to 14/15 period in his National League and UCL he had 56 Matches with 43 Goals (36 Non-PK Goals) and 11 assists,
19 Matches, 10 Goals (9 Non-PK Goals) and 3 assists in his three first season at Madrid
    37 Matches, 33 Goals (27 Non-PK Goals) and 8 assists in the 12-13, 13-14 and 14-15 seasons.
