Fk him glad they lost and stop posting about him with a name like Mosquera and a first name Spelled wrong this dude wants to pretend he isn’t Colombian but again a failure for not going after guys early in the u17 and u20 not sure if that profeta kid is going to be good wasn’t he a captain for us then went to captain Venezuela youth team not is on their senior team?
I wonder if he is sizing up his chances with the Spanish national team and looking our way. They have Dean Huijsen and Pau Cubarsi both being highly rated CB's of 20 and 17, they have Raul Ascensio as a 22 y/o starter for Real Madrid, plus about 4-6 other guys in their 20's ahead of him and you'll have to worry about the constant supply of talent coming up throughout his career. If I'm him and I want to play for a national team, his best chance is with us by far, Spain will probably be challenging for everything in the era of Yamal and the talent they have but there's a good chance he wouldn't make any major tournament squads anytime soon, but could with us.
Is he having a good season? Haven’t heard much about him this year other than being linked to Milan. Silly to just let this dude slip without a fight. 20 year starter in Spain maybe we can convince him. He could probably make our WC26 team. He def won’t make the Spanish one.
once again I know you don't even bother watching a single minute of football. Mosquera is an excellent defender. He's very quick, technical, good on the ball and strong. He reminds me a bit of Davinson Sanchez but I would say that he is much more composed than Sanchez. All this at age 20 where he is a regular starter for Valencia. Losing him to Spain would be devastating, but they have loads and loads of centre backs just as good if not better than him so I continue to hold on to the hope he'll play for us
its clear he's been holding out for them which is a shame, he's such a good center back. Would love to have him. I still hold a degree of hope
Yeah I think he's holding out and honestly being born and raised in Spain and being 20 with so much potential and probably still not likely to be a starter or get heavy minutes for us necessarily just yet I can see why. I'd love to have him and still hold out hope because they are so stacked, but I honestly don't hold it against him either, he's been part of Spains national program since U15 and developed totally within their club and national system, but lets keep our fingers crossed we can tempt him away because I think there's a good argument he's nearing being a starter for us over Davinson and he's moving further away from the Spain squad.
There's always a chance his family convinces him to play for Colombia. I am sure he has Cousins and Uncles telling him he has a way better chance of playing in a Mundial for us. But yes, he is Spanish. He lives in Spain and is immersed in the culture, he has formed bonds with teammates both at the Spain Youth Levels and at Valencia. It is not going to be easy. (And none of us even know if Lorenzo even wants him. )
this is the first time I can see myself rooting for a "foreign" player to play for us but Mosquera is a top centre back, no doubt about it and as you say he may be better as it is than Davinson. If not it's going to happen very soon. I wouldn't hold any grudges against him either but this could be a great chance for us. He's superior to guys like Alzate or Poveda whom were also "foreign" players. Mosquera has potential to be a top center back playing for a top club very soon also, I know that the colombia FA is very aware of him because he was a part of a colombia u 20 call up a few years ago, they claimed it didn't work out to documentation issues but I wonder if he just kinda changed his mind instead. this happened in Chile when they called up Robbie Robinson from Inter Miami, the guy went over to Chile saw that the real world in south america is not something he understands so he immediately ditched them and dropped out after a training session
To reinforce your point a bit I just read that Huijsen is more than likely going to Real Madrid. That would make it seem a lot more difficult for Cristhian to ever get a chance. Two young guys at Real Madrid and one at Barca would be very difficult to skip in line for playing time. Unless he goes to some big Club in England and wins trophies as starter or something like that.
Huijsen signed so he's a Madrid player for sure, Huijsen could flop but he looks amazing and Cubarsi is already nailed on at Barca, for Spain you just can't imagine more likely paths into starting. These guys are very good and at the pinnacle of Spanish soccer likely for years with others you haven't passed yet too, its a tough ask, its definitely doable but it's all about if you're dead set on Spain and don't have any affinity for us, which is usually not the case for even 2nd generation Colombians
bit behind on news lol, he was confirmed yesterday. I still remain hopeful to a degree that we can get him to play for us. we called up Poveda out of the blue and I thought his ship had sailed.
Oh wow. Heaven forbid I miss news about a player and team I do not care about. I should always have X tweeters constantly sent to my phone.
He was called up for the Sub21 Euro tournament and is expected to start. Still not completely a lost cause, but not looking good for us. He still is very low on the priority list for the Spain Senior team and we still have a couple of years so who knows? But I am starting to think he will just wait at the alter for them as long as he can.
I mean no one in colombia ever talks about him..... Should be 54 million people tagging everything he post with the Colombian NT
Everyone in Colombia can send him bandeja paisas and empanadas and he still will be waiting for Spain to say yes or no.
I've internally come to terms with him choosing Spain Also people seem to have forgotten but he was a part of a colombia u 20 squad list that was announced. So he must have given some kind of green light at some point. Later he backed out to some kind of issues with documents but I think that was just the excuse they were using, sounds to me like a bunch of bs now
The issue is he played for Spain at every Youth Level and the Colombian Federation could have pressured him to do the one-time switch paper work so that he could play in the Sudamericano. But that is just speculation on my behalf. It could have also been some sort of Colombia citizenship or Visa sorta thing. Whatever the case may be I am not giving up just yet. It could still be a Brahim Díaz sorta situation where he waited and waited and waited and then all of the sudden was like peace out, I am playing for Morroco. But yes, things are not looking good at the moment.
If there's one guy to hold out hope for till the very end, it's this guy. Top CB, superior to Cuesta for example
sanchez should not start for us. If he decides to join us. Depends if cabal and Mosquera are healthy because Cuesta and Davison both suck. Mina always injured so he can def make the final wc roster
