he was born and raised in London. he could've chosen England, France or Nigeria. think maybe even algeria too.

None, besides Olise who could have picked where he wanted to play

they were all born and raised in France but for some reason he has a problem with that

These French guys are as French as all the black Colombian legends are Colombian who played for us.

Looks like he wasn't chosen by Spain, not a big surprise others have more minutes and a bigger CV.

We got a couple more years to try to convince him to switch.
But he considers himself Spanish so it may not happen.

It's going to be harder to pull him further out from a World Cup and easier for Spain to call him up for official matches and get him in the pipeline. We should leave the door open and try but odds seem low since he's so young and clearly has Spain as first choice. Either way I hope he does well, no hard feelings as he was very up front and transparent and he is born and raised in Spanish clubs and their national program.

Yes, it could get complicated. With Nations League and Euro qualifying he would still be able to switch under new rules but he would have to wait three years from his last Spain match to play for Colombia which is not a huge incentive. Doubt he would do that unless he really wants to play in a World Cup and Spain just strings him along.
Playing in the actual Euro would be the only thing that would completely shut the door officially these next two years .
Let’s see how it plays out but it seems pretty much like he will just wait at the alter for Spain to play him and stay committed to them.

he could easily get called and cap tied after the world cup, but man, they also didnt call up dean huijsen from real madrid and gerard martin from barcelona. so that's two more names that could easily be in front of him and then who knows what other young Spanish cb's are up and coming.

Well he made his choice accepting the call for Spain only to be cut. He fell for the friendlies call up lile Diego Costa and now he will miss the world cup.

Post world cup if he still doesn't accept our offer, then we aren't waiting anymore.

So long as he didn't play in any "official" matches for the senior squad beyond friendlies he can switch. Though it is a 2-3 month process.

Even if he plays in Qualifiers or Nations League he can still fill out paperwork for a one-time switch. But according to recent FIFA rules he would have to wait three years after his final game for Spain to play for Colombia. Which is not ideal for the player or for the Seleccion.

One of our WC opponents has a player who did a one-time switch from Belgium to DR Congo.
He was not allowed to be on the tournament roster because of the three year rule.

would def have been called over Ditta. Crazy Mosquera didn't get called but I don't think he had any minutes vs France/Croatia so that wasn't a good sign for him

As it turns out Carbonero, Santos Borre and Yerson did not play against France and none of them made the list.

They have him going everywhere though. Mostly as a lcb in a three man back line. Now he is drifting to the right side.
