If he doesn't show up as a part of the squad for march then this isn't happening

He only played for the Spanish youth squads; unless he plays for the senior squad in Spain for a single minute minimum in a friendly, he is not legally forced to process an one time nation switch.

So he can accept the call for Colombia next month at the last minute.

It seems like people are still confused after all these many months.

Cristhian cannot be called up for the World Cup unless he filed a one-time switch and has it approved by FIFA. He played official matches for Spain at the U21 level so that is why he has to do the official paperwork.

Theoretically he can get called up for March friendlies and train with the Colombian team. He can even play in those friendlies. But he would not be eligible to play in official matches unless he commits to the switch.

I have no hard feelings because he has been pretty clear since day one. He is Spanish. And he wants to play for Spain.
Hope he does well except against us.

A shame but he waited and they called him up. Patience worked out for him.

He was not included on Spain's 55 man WC roster.
Which means he will not play in the World Cup.
Which means there is still a slight chance if he wants to play for Colombia he can one-time switch within the next couple years.

That is until 2028. If he is called up and plays in the Euro 2028 he will be officially cap-tied to Spain.

he knew we were 100% going to bring him and could get to the last 16. Maybe even start.

Spain he can go to hope for a Semi final appearance.... would not really play much if at all.

we waited way too long to go after him and don't think we did a good job in convincing him. He is going to stay with Spain. O well.

Are we sure the squad is out I can't find it anywhere? I would be surprised if he makes it tbh, De La Fuente is pretty big stickler for going for some guys who have been in the process and Mosquera had one window and hasn't played that much lately. My guess is he's likely to go for veterans and guys involved, and a guy like Eric Garcia may be picked ahead of him since he can play 3 positions and has a lot of experience. Mosquera talent wise is there but he's behind the 2 of the best CB's in the world and hasn't been able to play a ton and make a strong argument for a competitive Spain squad, it may just leave open the door for us even if its not for this summer's World Cup.

I dont see the definitive list anywhere. But Diario AS tweeted out the 55 names and mosquera was on it. whether he makes the final 26 is another story.

Regardless if he makes the final cut or not, he made his choice. It be a different story if he changed sides and wasn't called for recent friendlies but he didn't choose us and was called. Maybe post world cup we can talk to him if he doesn't make the final cut but we have to focus on who we called.

The list I saw was not official. My apologies. He is in the list of 55.
If he is not called up to 26 though he is still eligible. Even if he is called and does not play he is eligible.

Im somewhat tempted to revisit this if he doesn't even make the 55

However this guy seems set on pretending to be Spanish and since Spain are on their way to becoming the next France and just nationalizing every single person they can find then its no surprise.

Meanwhile in Colombia we have to beg fir years before we even consider nationalizing a single foreigner.
