He debuted today in the 2nd half when the game was already decided, but from what I read (didn't see the game because of Rosh Hashana), the crowd cheered every time he touched the ball, and he played really well. Showed a lot of quickness and great moves.

ryu, no need to say Mazal Tov, only Shana Tova which is good year. So I wish everyone here also shana tova, and hopefully return home with the Copa America 2011 :D

Played the last 15 minutes today and he was very impressive. You guys have a star for the NT for years to come. No kidding.

Hopefully he will start on Wednesday. If our coach has even half a brain (which I doubt from what I've seen from him so far), he will start him

    Toda raba celecte :D

I like to hear that, Cristian showed how talented he is in the 2009 Sudamericano sub-20 and too bad that he wasn't able to bring that talent to the Colombian league. right now Penarol is an average South American team (correct me if I'm wrong), far far from it's past glory. Still, it's a good team for Cristian to developed and we already saw that you can get to Europe from Uruguay (dirty Sanchez). wish him and you guys all the best, hopefully your coach will listen to your advise ;)

I think we are above average. We were average before last year though. We have a really good team. We just need to gel together. On paper, we have one of the best teams in South America in my opinion. All we need is a number 9, a striker. We had one in Carlos Bueno and let go of him because the president doesn't like him. Hopefully Mejia
continues to develop and stays with us for a long time

Mejia scored twice in the 5-1 win over Tacuarembó.

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ORfVndmcF0"]YouTube - Tacuarembó 1 - Peñarol 5 - Apertura 2010 - 27/10/2010[/ame]

At about the 2:06 and 4:08 marks of the video.

Nice header on the first one and an opportunistic goal off a GK rebound.

Tacuarembo sucks, but it was great to see Mejia score.....twice, in his first start for us. Hopefully the position isnt taken away from him with some injured and sick players coming back. He deserves it.

We both have a gem for many years to come

Si.

He was substituted fairly early despite playing great (maybe he got hurt and I missed it).

    Has he been titular recently?
