Definitely not. he rarely played badly. SAF just preferred Scholes or maybe not interfering with the camaraderie of the Giggs, Scholes, Beckham, neville axis too much. Personally I strongly doubt Scholes would have started for Argentina at that time ahead of Veron. Or that that Lazio team would have won the 2000 (i hink it was) Scudetto if you;d swapped them.
Luckily Hungarian is not necessary for planning stuff .... or most stuff would nto get planned. Dastardly difficult language to learn as a 2nd language, I'm told by a linguist friend.
Arsenal have expressed an interest in Paris St-Germain's 22-year-old France forward Bradley Barcola, who is also wanted by Bayern Munich and Liverpool. (L'Equipe - in French, subscription required)
In cash, yes. But the dollar cost of the total transfer is amortized over the life of the contract. So if we pay 100m in cash today or 25m annually, the accounts show us spending 20m/year (100m for 5 yr contract). Or ~half the money we recouped for Quansah which we get to count IMMEDIATELY in our accounts.
At the risk of being like real a second time, they have triggered buybacks many times only to turn around and sell the player for a tidy profit. And, yes, their buyback clauses are always somehow unworldly tiny sums for the players they sell on. From AI:
Fabrizio Romano @FabrizioRomano · 3m Milos Kerkez can now be considered as new Liverpool player, deal also club to club Medical completed and contracts sealed with left back joining Liverpool for £40m as fee from Bournemouth. confirmed. Official statement next.
Nunez to Napoli seems like it’s happening. I wouldn’t have thought that Napoli could afford him. Will be interesting to see what kind of fee we get for him.
I believe that was the initial offer (And then some add-ons that were supposed to get the deal closer to 43m-45m).
Ibou isn't happy with the contract offer. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ppointed-liverpool-contract-offer-talks-stall
I think it's a big problem, once again. I tend not to trust a players motives once he's run his deal down to one year. Liverpool will certainly want to tie Ibou down and as with our other guys will be offering good money. We saw it with Emre Can and recently with Trent as both opted to run down their deals preferring to walk and grab the big signing on fee elsewhere. I hate it but the clubs options seem limited if Ibou continues to stall. Sell (if he'll go)or bench him which would impact his World Cup chances.
Liverpool and Uruguay striker Darwin Nunez, 25, has made Napoli his preferred destination if he leaves Anfield this summer. (Football Italia) Newcastle are willing to make 25-year-old Sweden striker Alexander Isak the best-paid player in the club's history to ward off interest from Liverpool, Barcelona and Arsenal. Or enjoy what he has to offer for one more year and win more trophies. I think selling him would be a huge mistake. We are assembling one of the greatest squads we have ever had, and I would not risk leaving us short at the back. The club seems to be less bothered with players leaving on a free than most supporters are. I would pencil Konate in as the starting centerback, sign a player who can challenge him for minutes, and then continue negotiating a new contract with him after the summer business is over. If he leaves on a free we will have partially replaced him with a player who will have a year at Liverpool under his belt. Then we have 12 months to come up with a long term replacement next summer.
We could ,Suss and I think Real Madrid would be high fiving all round saying , "Yes Ibou , well in lad. See you next June!" "Oh and by the way ,Ask yer pal Macca when his deal expires. We may have another opening."
Still not sure what we could do about it. We can go to Madrid and say give us 50 million for Ibou, and they would say no thanks we only want him for free. At the same time they can promise Ibou even higher wages for coming for free. From Ibou’s point of view, it’s a bit risky to not have a long term contract when you are as injury prone as he is.
Agreed it's a problem of which I don't know the solution either but the club must figure it out. I have read where the club do not want to be caught in the same situation it found itself with Trent. One suggestion was to buy another cb eg Guehi then ask Ibou to either sign or be sold and if he decides to stay and run down his deal then sit him out. It is a WC year so odds are he would want to be playing........somewhere. Ideally Ibou signs a new deal but bottom line a club like Lpool cannot continue to allow some of its top assets in their peak years to walk away for nothing.
