in Germany a set % of all transfer fees are trickled down to each of a player's previous teams. can't recall details but I think it gets paid out to all such teams (any age) as long as it's a registered league.
Captain Carvajal. Morata, Mariano Diaz, Callejon I think? Madrid did it many years ago before it became a thing in the 2000s. But not many noteworthy players as I recall.
I can see the loan thing. “We think you might be good enough, but let’s send you to Ragball Rovers for a season to see what you really have”. But the buyback is essentially saying, “we don’t think you have what it takes and we moving you on.” Followed then by, “Y’know you’re not half bad, we’ll have you back”. Bit like dumping a girlfriend only to chase her 2-3 years later because you’re convinced she’s now hotter.
as far as I can see there is zero downside and a lot of upside to a buyback. we're not committed to anything but can bring back a player who fulfills his potential. in a few years Q may not have become Virgil2.0, but could still be a very attractive addition to our squad.
why? he would be a defender playing in the best league in the world play against some of the best attackers like Salah. I'm sure if he shows he can play against Wirst and Salah they'll be happy to have him.
Kerkez medical today announced tomorrow. Pretty silly to have lost out on Milos Monday after pulling off Florian Friday so well. Hughes out! FSG out!
Don’t know about that. Depends how far apart they are. A few more rounds of negotiations should tell a lot.
That's all very well until you get to the very top level (so if your harvey Elliot and etc is at just the level below that, what's the point of changing them? All I'm saying is that really top players don't like to hang around bench warming. Take Fabregas as an example at Barca after Pep left and they wet back to having a striker. He wasn't gonna get in the primary midfield three, so he wanders off to Chelsea. Veron at Manchester United is another good example.
Liverpool will bank about £3million inclusive of add-ons for selling Nat Phillips to West Bromwich Albion. A good signing for #WBA and a good fee recouped for #LFC.
I think in Elliott's case I believe the club is happy to keep him and it's up to Elliott now whether he's content to compete with top players at an elite club or move to another club where he may play more. However as to "really top players not liking bench warming" I think if the idea is to have "really top players" throughout the squad without a noticeable drop off then Slot will have many options to rotate regularly among the squad . With 5 subs available each game and Liverpool normally competing in four competitions late into the season there will be plenty of playing time available to all.
I also think the extenuating circumstances for me regarding TAA, were that he came up through the academy and was, up to running the contract down, a once club player. Also, as others may have already said, Real basically was encouraging him to run his contract down from day one...
That and usually these buy-back clauses are "right of first refusal" type of things. So mainly we get a say in whether the player gets to transfer to at some point in the future, or if we are willing to put up the money to keep them away from a direct rival.
